I was playing a game the other day and we had an assult on a skimmer.
We played it as being required to hit with '6s' on the skimmer and then the game went on.
Afterwards he IMed me and asked about the rule since he couldn't find it.
Now I cant either, I'm mostly rembering this rule from advice from an older player but if anyone could tell me if that might be a 4th ed hang over or the page it is in the BRB I would aprecate it.

It's a 4th ed Hangover. Skimmers now have no additional rules regarding being hit in assault. It is treated as any other vehicle.

What about things like the Valkyrie that fly more than 6" above the battlefield? When it came up while playing with some friends we agreed that you couldn't assault a valk unless you had jump packs or wings (one friend was playind 'nids) because it just seemed unrealistic for a footslogger to to try to punch a helicopter.

Is there any actual rules basis for this or would it have to be a house rule?

House rule.

EDIT-It makes Valks/Vends even more ridiculous. Don't do it.

That is a house rule. All vehicles, Valkyrie or not, are all hit the same.

Entirely a house rule. All yuo need to do is contact the base.

Warhound titans used to have the rule that you oculd only hit different armour in CC if you were jump infantry (etc), otherwise you always hit the AV14 legs.

Derby, UK.

Although it is ahouse rule i woudl say assaulting a valk would be next to impossible - unless it was dropping off troops.
