Hey guys and girls of the forum, i'm totally new to this site, but thought i'd share a few of the current models i'm working on at the minute... I've been playing warhammer for years, stopped for quite a number of years and only been collecting again for the past year... Start a Salamanders space marine army, which i've SLOWLY started to paint... so here is my currently completed figures..

First my scout Sergent, he's painted up pretty standardly, mounted to a resin lava base, and i used the arms from the scout biker model to give him a more "in action" pose than the shot guns provided with the standard kit provide..

Next is one of his troopers

just finished last nght is my favorite from my collection so far.. is my Salamander Company Champion, he's still needing a little rework on his helmet... any thoughts let me know!

lastly for just now is my NEARLY complete Iron Clad Dreadnought, need to work out some blendings for the green, some more details on the metal work and a general tidy up, but i'm really happy with how his base turned out!

All Feedback welcomed!

Did another guy last night, sergent for my tactical squad... not sure if the helmet colours are right, if he gives off a more "Veteran" feel, than a leader... but here he is..

and also my next project, finished modeling and undercoating last night... my Dragon Vindicator of DOOM! did most of the metal parts last night, hopefully finish soon

I think your base work is incredible and I especially like the cannon on the demolisher! Very cool idea. Any plans for named characters in the future?

You mind posting the color scheme of the flames on the shoulder pads and any tips on painting them on? I am planning on starting salamanders soon and would like to try that.

Where did the giant dragon head on the Vindy come from?

Hey guys!, thanks for your kind words.... Right..

Crash : Dragon head comes from high elf dragon kit for WFB, what i did was took a jewellers saw, cut the dragons head down the middle at the bottom of its jaw, filed down the bottom of it, and stuck it to the top and bottom of the cannon, once this was dry and in place, i green stuffed either side of the jaw (my first attempt with green stuff!) once it was round either side, i used a small craft knife to try and do scales, then thought it needed a bit of "omf" so attempte to do horns! hopefully will be good once its painted up!

Asherian : Thanks! Will definatly do that once i have a few more models painted up!, the bases are pretty easy to do, tend to do them in batches of 10 - 15, so means i dont have to do them for each model!

Pyriel : thanks yeh your shoulder pads are immense! Just got the chapterhouse Land Raider kit ordered, going to combine that with the Forge world salamanader doors (arrived yesterday!) and hopefully get a kick ass model out of it!

Flight : The flames i did using about 8 layers of paints (unfortunatly!)

- Started off with a layer of Mechrite Red (this is to give a good foundation layer) use this to draw the over all outline of the flames, and then fill it in...
- the second layer is Blood Red, leaving just a tiny bit at the edges of the mechrite red. but going over the the same outline.
- then add a layer of foundation orange, again leaving some of the blood red showing,
- then blazing orange, followed by Golden Yellow, then Sunburst Yellow,
the next 2 layers are a little bit of a grey area... the ROUGH mix is 3:1 Sunburst Yellow and Skull white, then a 1:2 sunburst and skull white for the smallest bit of the flames (the hottest bits).

Good luck with the sallies army

P.S. Plans to add a Vulcan in there at some point soon, i have the model but he's taking his sweet time to get painted, such an intricate model

Damn, would love to see that one painted up.

As for doors, I´m doing Sallie themed LR doors and front now. Thought it would look better to have a robed angel of death with wings and all toting a heavy flamer then some flat dragon head from FW.

Awesome!, like the idea!, The Forge world sally doors are a bit plain, and also a bit of a rip off for what you get really! but i'm hoping it will add something to the chapter houses awesome land raider kit!, i havent quite worked out if the Dragon Lascannon turret guards will work with the land raider redeemer kit, but i'm sure with sufficent green stuff, and saws it will!

Had an odd thought this morning, are Sergents helmets traditionally supposed to be red or white?? I like the white on my latest serg's helmet, but i have a feeling in the fluff its supposed to be red (well at least by Ultran00bs standards!)

Well, the redeemer sponsons will actually be made to look like the normal drake ones so given some time there will be sallie redeemer sponson covers as well.

As for helmets, the salamanders dont use white or red, all helmets are green regarding rank. You can always paint green with white laurels to signify veterancy or simply do as you please, it is your army after all.

I figured that was the paint-scheme (give or take a layer ). Thanks for posting, its good to have a solid list of paints to work with. I am really looking forward to starting these guys up - just have to finish my Chaos army first!

I like the lava, did you greenstuff the raised area on the bases? I was thinking of going for a similar look with a top secret army I am working on in my nonexistent free time

naw nothing that difficult...found a resin base supplier (foundations of war) spray the bases black, in the recesses paint it foundation red, then using the above technique for painting fire, i paint a thin line of paint down the middle for each coat, but the lines getting narrower each time, until i have a very narrow line of "almost white" (with a touch of sunburst yellow). in the middle... and on the extreme edges blood red, this is to represent the heat of the lava, white in the middle of the lava where it is hottest, and red where the lava is at it coolest (just before it turns hard into rock! )

oh then the rocks were given a light dry brush of codex grey.

Ah, I see. Drat, I will have to figure it out on my own (I don't like resin and resin don't like me...)

In that one pic, it looks like the dread is about to take a Krak Missile to the nards!

Nice work again, man. You are making it very hard for me to stay focused on my Black Legion painting and not straying into my Salamanders. I hate you for that....

Very nice, do you have any kind of background theme to where your army is fighting?

On their home planet of Noctorne, since the salamanders live on a planet which has constant vulcanic eruptions and stuff due to the high gravity of their nearest moon, the planet is in a constant state of flux and eruption! i figured that lava bases would suit them nicely.

Thanks for the compliments! yeh that was intentional!, wanted it to make it look like my scout was actually shooting at something!

Somnicide,
Yeh its a bit of a bugger, but easily enough to do with Green stuff i would say! I think the key to Resin is to clean it before priming!

Hi how did you paint your tactical squads power sword?

The real threat to the imperium is not:

it is :
92% of teens have moved on to rap. If you are one of the 8% who still listen to real music, copy and paste this into your sig.
95% of teens would go into a panic attack if the jonas brothers were about to jump off the empire state building copy and paste this if you are the 5% who would pull up a lawn chair grab some popcorn and yell JUMP BITCHES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GENERATION 6: The first time you see this, copy and paste it into your sig and add 1 to the number after generation. Consider it a social experiment.
