A chimera carrying a guard squad is parked with its rear on the table edge. The chimera is hit and a destroyed - wrecked result is rolled. The squad have to disembark. If they disembark from the rear door then the majority of the squad will be off table and therefore out of the game. There is only room for 4 or so of the 10 man squad to be placed on table within 2 inches of the door. So does the player concerned have to count the squad as dead and gone or can he emergency disembark even though it is not enemy or impassable terrain that's preventing a normal disembarkation. There would have been plenty space for emergency disembarkation.

Personally I think emergency disembarkation would have been reasonable and it was me that destroyed the chimera but my opponent felt that his squad should be destroyed. I don't think he liked it, but that's how he interpreted the rules. What do you think?

Neither. If there's room for 4 to be placed, 4 are placed. The squad is not destroyed, although it does lose 6 members.

I agree that emergency disembarkation would be the correct response. I personally consider the edge of the table rather impassible in this scenario.

Currently Play/Own
= 3500 = 3500 = 4000 = 2500 = 1000 = 500 = 3000 = 2000 = 1000 = 2500 = 1500

If any models cannot disembark because of enemies or because they would end up in impassable terrain, the unit can perform an 'emergency disembarkation'.

The Edge of the Board is not on that list, so they would not have been permitted to emergency Disembark.

Yup, while the edge of the table is not technically impassable terrain, you are prohibited (by the rulebook FAQ) from voluntarily moving across it.

The closest to RAW would probably be to destroy any models who can not be placed, as the table edge is not one of the stated triggers for an Emergency Disembark.

But I think an Emergency Disembark would be fair in this situation
