Ok, I have all the ingredients just don't know how to put it together.
This is what I got
forgefather
MOTF
2x Ironclads
1x Venerable
3x Vanilla dreads
10x Assault terminators
5x reg terminators
2x Land raiders
30x Marines
6x Servitors
3x Drop pods
2x Rhinos
1x Thunderfire
2x Vindicators
1x predator
6x Land speeders HF/MM
I am also willing to pick up a few more things.
How can I turn this into a take on all comers list for 'Ard Boys. Also in my club we have all armies represented except for DE and we are all very tournament minded. Please help fellow Dakkaites.
P.S. No points listing please. I can figure it out, just keep it under 2.5K

Generally Vulkan lists look something like this:
Vulkan
Librarian (term arm, storm shield)
10x TH/SS Terminators
2x Landraiders (Not lascannon)
Tactical Squads in rhinos with flamers and MM
Land Speeders or attack bikes with MM and HF (for speeders)
Predators/Vindicators in heavy support
The other twist is to have vulkan and the terminators stay, but bring in a bike captain and all the troops are bike squads with as much melta as possible.

Q: How many of a specific demographic group are required to carry out a simple task?
A: An arbitrary number. One to carry out the task in question, and the remainder to act in a manner stereotypical of the group.

There is my 1850 list as something to possibly reference to.
In general, Vulkan lists usually suffer from a low number of models and lack of long range shooting. However, once in melta range the game is heavily in your favor.

Yea, been feeling that lately. I figure use Ironclads in drop pods till Vulkin can get in there with MOTF and Thunderfire hitting with range.

Do not use:
-Ironclads
-Thunderfires
-Drop pods
with Vulkan. If you are trying to truly put together an 'Ard Boyz list, you have no keep in mind that any fluff does not belong in these lists. You want it as mean as possible, and as efficient as possible, and these are not:
1) Thunderfire cannons: They do not benefit from Vulkan and honestly die when from even being stared at too long, let alone bing shot at.
2) Dreadnoughts in Drop pods: People bring meltas to this tournament. A lot of it. By gift-wrapping something like this that doesn't even assault before it takes a round of melta shots, they are just getting some free points. A melta shot does not care if it is an ironclad or not - they all just die. If you are so gung-ho about getting a MM up close, could I suggest Landspeeders or attack bikes instead?
3) MoTF: Does not fit into this list, you really want a Librarian. Null zone is very, very important. The other choice is the bike captain.
Don't take any of this personally - and I can appreciate you having the models and wanting to use them - but these are tried-and-true force structures for maximizing Vulkan. If you don't want him, there are other paths available, but I feel he is still the strongest way you can make a marine army right now (waiting out for final copies of Blood Angels).

I disagree with no thunderfires. Most opponents will overlook the cannon because of bigger threats such as land raiders, vindicators, MM speeders in your face.
I use a TFC and I would say that at least 90% of games it more than earns its points back.

They should overlook them because they do not do anything to vehicles, which is what everything should be inside.
Also, most penetrate roll kills them, along with half of the glancing.
If land raiders/vindicators/MM speeders are such big threats, you should bring more of them. Kinda makes sense, doesn't it?

However, when those transports go, you have a nice grouped up squad to shoot at! It works well against MEQ's because of S6 shots and can thin hordes with ignore cover rounds. 4 small blasts, I'll take it.
In one round of shooting I have put 30 wounds on a tactical squad b/c of popping the transport. Against nids I dropped an entire gaunt swarm by ignoring cover.
I'm not saying that TFC's are the best, but they are definitely underrated.

Gonna have to agree on the TFC, Ive popped armor with a ranged shot and pulverized the troops inside with the TFC more times than not.

Fine, they are not completely terrible - you have convinced me. The problem is that you only have 3 Heavy Support slots in an army, and at least one is taken up by a Landraider.
Is a 100 point Thunderfire better than a 115 point Vindicator? Or a third Landraider? We are talking 2500 points here, the limiting factor are those Force Organisation Slots.

The problem with thunderfires in a Vulkan list is not whether or not they can make up their points, but the fact that you have to spam them in order to make them viable. They are extremely fragile units, and the only way to counter this is to take several of them. However, as each unit takes up a heavy support option, you lose out on the ability to take units that could supplement the close range firepower of a Salamander army better.
Two Vindicators and a Land raider would make for a much better choice imho.
And To the OP:
You're going to want to pick up another box of assault terminators and another TAC squad at the very least. At 2500 points, you should generally speaking have 4 or more scoring units.
If i were going to run a Vulkan List, Here's what I'd have as my core force:
Vulkan (duh)
Land Raider crusader x2 (multi-meltas on Each)
Term assault squad TH/ SS (7 models, Vulkan Attached)
Term assault Squad Th/ SS (8 models)
x2 Vindicator with Dozer blades.
Then build up around this, include about 4 TAC squads and something to give you some more Anti-tank hitting power (unless your TAC squads will serve this function)

Good point on the pesky FoC, does a lr of any varient count as heavy support if its used as dedicated transport for termies? Never mind, my dumb a@@ should have just looked it up......

I don't believe that they are HS. It specifically says that ONE termie squad can choose a LR as a dedicated transport.
