I Realized I had enough components in my orky bitz box to kit-bash a wartrakk. I have been meaning to experiment with adding a firing rokkit "cinematic effect" to a model as I have seen others do it, and so i figured this would be the model to try it on. The model is primed in the following shots only, so paint work still to be done.

The trakk is careening wildly (to suggets speed) and the rokkit spiraling off in true BS2 fashion:

(sorry for the blurry pics)

I'm pleased with my first attempt at "cinematic" smoke trails (wire guide w/ flock glued to shape). The painting will hopefully sell it even more.

C&C welcome.

Love the model can't wait to see it painted. The way you have the BS 2 missle spiral going is great.

Very good spiral trail! I bet people (myself included) would be interested if you did a brief tutorial on how you created the frames and smoke effect. Great job!

Proper!

I really dig the crazy path the rocket is taking. Is that floral wire and flock?

Pretty much, though the wire was from the spiral binding of an old notebook.

There may be easier/better ways to do it (I got the idea having seen other people do similar on Storm boy backpacks, etc.) but, it worked...

Awesome! Did you pin the rocket/smoke for removal for transport and painting? I'm just thinking cutting foam for that would be a bummer. Looks great.

Have my own game room. Rarely play 40K elsewhere so not really a concern.

that's cool, seen the same kind of effect on a broadside once, looked cool then and it looks cool on this too, I love the spiral trail that the rokkit leaves.

Keep up the good work!

Some update photos:

The fire/smoke effect looks passable, especially from across a tabletop.

you pulled that off pretty well, The painting really helps sell it. I think I saw a few bits of exposed wire on the WIP rocket contrail though.. best cover that up if you haven't already on the finished piece

I might have pulled the wire a little forward, to more suggest deadly speed with the rokkit, but this is superbly orky and a great paint job.

I think the base under the bike is kind of token, but otherwise a great mini

If you have a suggestion for how to make a trakk or bike stay in a careening position on one trakk while popping a wheelie without a base then I'm all ears...

Well, my problem with it is that it's big enough to be obvious from the front and sides, yet it's clearly not big enough for the model to rest on like a traditional base. I appreciate what you've done with it, but I think i would've gone with flat black or dark brown plasticard or similar, so it was flush with the ground and more subtle
