this is my first post with a list, and first tourny at this low of a point cost so i thought id put up for review/advice/criticism any help is appreciated.

HQ: Libby, ta w/ss, gate and whatever my mood is

Troop: 2 10 man tacs w mm and flamer in rhinos

Elite: 5 ass terms
5 sterns in razorback w/ hb
dread w/ mm and storm bolter in drop pod, pod has sb and beacon

Fast attack: land speeder w/ mm and hf

Heavy: TFC

I am kind of attached to the TFC as every time I play it, it kills 2x its points pretty quickly, but I am open to trying any thing and my actual model list is pretty big although preds and vindis are absent for now.

Not a bad little list for 1250. At that point level, you'll be outnumbered by pretty much everything. Orks are HUGE at that points level, so I like your selection of flmaers, and a heavy bolter Razor.

Why the assault Terminators? What role do you plan for them? Those are typically deployed via Land Raider, as they're VERY vulnerable to massed shooting.
At that points level, you might want to consider Tactical Terminators instead. You still get a bunch of powerfist attacks, a powersword on the sergeant, and the ability to take either an assault cannon or a Cyclone launcher. These guys can actually shoot to great effect while they move across the board, unlike the Assault Termis.

It looks liek you plan on Gating the TDA Libby around with the Assault Termis, yes? Just keep in mind that you can't charge after Gating, so you'll be sitting ducks for a countercharge (which strips away six attacks from your squad you would have gotten for charging) or dedicated shooting. Tactical Terminators can at least use the Gate, and then light up the target they landed near with stormbolters and the AssCan or Cyclone.

What is the beacon on the pod for? Landing the Terminators? See above reasons not to deepstrike Terminators in a game that small. You can save yourself the points spent on that beacon and buy something else. Maybe a power weapon for one of your tac squads, since you don't have any right now.

The basic tactic is to drop pod near a little cover, infiltrate the speeder to provide a little support for the dread and then on turn 1 gate the ass terms to the beacon behind the dread and under the speeder this provides them a liitle protection for the turn and the ss keep them alive, the whole concept puts enough aggressive units in my opponents face that he has to deal with it or die and while he does the more fragile units can move up the board in the mean time. I really like the idea of shooty termies however every time I play them they get shot to pieces before they earn their points, 5+ invul is cool but not effective in my experience.

I would drop the Dreadnought and the sternguard all together and do something like this, deep striking Terminators is never a good idea. Last thing want is your HQ and elite unit tied up in reserves with some bad dice rolls

what do you think about losing 1 speeder and upgrading the lr to a crusader or redeemer, I only have one speeder for now I never used them and picked it up to try them out.

Well you should have about a half dozen speeders they are great but... 1 should be ok at that point level. Personally I love the Godhammer Pattern land raider, but the Crusader is not bad. The Redeemer is junk IMO

Agreed on the redeemer and the speeders, I bought more last night but won't be able to paint till Sunday and tourney is on sat ( wife made uber great fun fun plans.....) . With the left over points from the second speeder, wiggle in a whirlwind? or is that artillery overkill?

What's the metagame where you play? Lots of Horde armies? IF that's the case a whirlwind is great

My neck of the woods is all mechanized lists, a whirlwind does nothing for me.

It varies, Ill be facing nids, orks, and IG for sure, the IG bounces between gun line and mech, and probably some chaos as well.

When dropping that many units in one spot, beware the Battlecannon shot. One battlecannon template from a Russ tank can murder that whole formation.

Which part? the termies? I usually lose one to a russ if it hits but thats a decent trade to absolutely wreck a mech lines day with some th.
