Got cool feedback last thime I did this, so here's another one.

Please pardon my poor english through all this.

I once again got the chance to stretch my tournament muscles, this time in a 1850 point tourny. Place was real nice, about an hours and a half drive to get to, nice tables and a bar service.

I took with me a black legion army. I had only used them in doubles tournament to play with a buddy, so in the week before, I painted 750 points of them to take part in the tournament, so I must admit that I lacked a little bit of practice with it. My list is roughly as follows:

1850 Points CSM

Daemon Prince, Wings, Mark of Slaanesh, Lash of Submission

Daemon Prince, Wings, Mark of Nurgle, Warptime

4 Terminators, all with pairs of lightning claws, Icon of Khorne
Land Raider Dedicated Transport

2X 10-man chaos Space Marines squad, 2 meltaguns, Champion with POwer Fist, Icon of Chaos Reroll. Both in rhinos with Combi-Meltas

5-man PLague Marine Squad, 2 Flamers, Champion with POwer Fist, in a rhino.

Chaos Vindy with Deamonic Posses

Chaos Land Raider with Extra Armor ( Used to carry the Plague Marines)

I'm not fairly happy with this army composition, but it's what I could manage to paint in a week, or had already painted.

Game 1 versus Orks-of-randomness.

Opponent's list is roughly:

Zogwort, Warbiker warboss, Warbikes, 20 Ard Boyz, bunch of shoota boyz, 2 units of 3 Big Kanons guns, 3 squads of wartraks, a squad of 3 KillKans and a unti of 5 meganobs.

Here's the table we played on:

The primary objective was to get the center point ( yeah, middle of the river), second objective was killpoints, third objective was to get a specific unit ( Mine was the Plague Marines, his was the 30shootaboyz ) in the opponent's deployement zone ( 12" of long board edge )

My opponent won the roll and elected to go first. I set up in a corner and left my 2 csm squads in reserve.

Appart from my nurgle DP killing all 3 kans in a single close combat phase, the game went quite badly for me. I couldn't get through the meganobs, nor succeed more than one save on both of my daemon prince. 15 minutes was called just before turn 5, my opponent played his last turn,At that point winning primary and secondary objectives. I could capture the primary by moving my Land Raider and PLagu marines in the center and tank shock the orks out of the way, but rolled a 1 in difficult terrain, and the game ended with me scoring an (un) impressive 3 points out of 21. I'm quite used to not being lucky and take a great fun in the game anyway On to game 2 where I could hardly fare worse!

Game 2 vs TFG's Dark Angels

Man... at least his army was good looking. So this guy is new to the game, doesn't quite know the rules, and has a lame army list.

Dark Angels marines, devastators with 2 plasmas, 1 HB and a missile, dread with assault canon, termis mounted on 25mm bases, a bunch of assault marines... No power Fists and 2 weapons capable of penetrating a Land Raider...

I'm used to doing demo games and explaning the rules ( LGS manager for the last 4 years ) so I explain all the stuff he misses and allow this guy takebacks. by turn 3 he's down to a drop pod, the tact squad inside, an empty rhino, a weaponless pred a weaponless/immobilized dread and the termis that haven't dropped yet.

Since, IMO. the game is not called "sucks to be you noob" so I decided to let him have a little fun, sacrificed a daemon prince by not charging and leaving cover and gave away a damaged CSM squad in not charging his full tact squad, and let him place his DSing termis with small bases within 1" of my rhino.

Ran out of time at the end of turn 5, I scored 18 out of 21 ( because of the previous turn ) And this guy gives me 0 in army composition and ducks my sportsmanship because " I purposely made an army not fun to play against " I sincerely hope to play him in one of the upcoming tournaments or 'Ardboyz Round, I'd like to work on his definition of " Army not fun to play"

Anyways, onto round 3!

Game 3 vs. Death Korps of Krieg!

Game three was a little bit long to start, as both me and my buddy ( eg. opponent ) were waiting at the bar to get a brew.

His army was: Demolisher, Russ, Basilisk, Hellhound, 10 Rough Riders, 2 platoons with autocans, 1 command sqaud with a mortar, 2 Veterans with demo charges in chimera, outflanking stormtroopers and that's about it I think.

Please note that during 4 turns of shooting with 3 demo charges and 3 ordonace weapons, the total scatter distance was about 5 inches. And once again, Daemon princes and saving throws don't seem to work well in my hands.

Goal of the game was to get to 3 objectives placed along the centerline. The one on the left was ( randomly) worth 2 points instead of one. One squad ( mine were plague Marines, his was a 5 man command squad ) were giving 1 more point if capturing the major objective ( so the point of the left was potentially worth 3 points)

I got pounded during the whole game, my goal was to block the 2 cheap objectives and score the 3 points one, which I surprisingly succeded in doing. This is want the game looked on turn 4:

Notice the major traffic jam in the middle of the board... All part of my cunning plan ( Chaos is well known for traffic jam, ain't it? )

The plague marines succeded in making 8 flamer wounds on the command squad worth 2 points, preventing any chance of my opponent winning except by ordonnance bl;asting me to death, which luckily didn't happen.

I won this game, which was by far the best I've had of the day. The Krieg list was really nasty and tricky to play against.

Overall, I ended 3rd for painting ( tied for 2nd with the guy with best overall actually ) and 6th overall on 28, which is not such a bad score considering the TFG-2nd Game.

I hope I get to play another tourny soon, I'm really enjoying this.

Thanks for reading.

Also: The pictures are not that good, I borrowed the camera from a friend and am not quite yet a good photographer. I also didn't take that much of them. All part of the learning curve I guess.

Nice report, a bit short, but you managed to convey your experience in the tournament well. Sucks about your second round opponent. I have faced such opponents myself, often in round 2 were they have one easy massacre behind them, and then when they get massacred, they slam you on sports/comp and generally make the game unpleasant. Nice looking armies all around

Mesopotamia. The Kingdom Where we Secretly Reign.

Wow, where do you live that you are able to play against fully painted armies on such scenic tables for 3 tournament rounds?

I'm very jealous of this.

@ Illumini: Yeah, I think on the next one I'm gonna keep little notes as the game goes. Or maybe if I take more pictures I'll get more details when it's over.

@ MonsterRain: Quebec City, Canada. This event was held in 3-Riviere, nearby city. We usually hold a tournament of between 1500 and 2000 points every 3 months, and get around 40 players with painted armies and scenic tables. I'll try to get room shots next time, so you guys can see the big picture.

Thanks guys!

YEah, all the shoulder plates, dozer blade, rhino top hatches and land raider sides are freehand. They are all based on rock/metal bands...
