Recently I've been thinking about getting into Warmachine and relised, I don't not anything about it well... I do know I want to play Cygnar, other then that I'm at a loss. What i really want to know is where I can buy the minis and what are some good ones to start with. And any other advice the veterans out there could give me.

Thanks

welcome to the iron kingdoms.
the cygnar battlebox is a good start with a well-rounded caster and some staple jacks, but where you can buy it from depends where you are located. most local game stores can order things they dont keep in regular stock.
you can get the mk.2 quickstart rules for the battlebox on the PP website.

Hi, like dais said, start with a battlebox and build from there...

I buy at http://maelstromgames.co.uk , but since you are in the US you may want to go for the warstore. (don't have a link handy, sorry).

After using the battlebox I would say check the article of Malfredm for beyond the battlebox. Find that her: http://pokeminiatures.blogspot.com/2010/02/cygnar-beyond-battlebox.html

Good luck, although if I meet you (somehow) I am going to crush you with my Cryx

TheWarStore.com is the US equivalent of maelstrom.

Also, BattleCollege is your friend. A pretty solid wiki of all units in WarmaHordes and a nice way to preview before you buy. Cygnar's Force book is pretty nice too as you have themed lists you can aim for.

For purchases I alway's use dungeontrader or the war store.
I have no local game store otherwise I would buy there.

superherogameland.com has AMAZING prices on WM/H models, the shipping can be a bit slow though. You do have to pay actual shipping, but the prices are so good that I'd always go there over the warstore or dungeontrader.

I agree with everything above I also suggest you get a Journeyman Warcaster they will be hands down one of the most useful units you will field in any Cygnarian army.

When the Axe comes down just pray your face isn't beneath it.

Grab the Black 13th as well. They're an excellent addition. Long Gunners have served me well, too. Gun Mage Captain Adept is a plus, as he plays sort of like an alternate Eiryss...Whom you will also be picking up because she's a great addition to your list.

She's a Mercenary, and really, I play her to learn how to play AGAINST her. She's sort of cheap, so I don't like to field her, but being relatively new myself, she plays a vital role on my team.

Cygnar is pretty diverse, although they tend towards being a more elite army. They generally have better stats than their opponents.

It's possible to build a shooting-based army with long gunners and trenchers.
It's possible to build a melee-based army with storm units.
It's possible to build a jack-heavy army with a range of good jacks and several casters available.

Personally, I think building a force that incorporates jacks with some shooting and some melee is important. You can focus in one of the areas, but I think you need some ability in melee, range, and magic.

The battlebox isn't a bad start. Past that, I'd look to add another caster or two, the Forces of Cygnar book, and then build out from there once you get a feel for what you want. If you pick up only one infantry unit, I'd recommend trenchers. They're solid all-rounders and can work into just about any list.

In the dark future, there are skulls for everyone. But only the bad guys get spikes. And rivets for all, apparently welding was lost in the Dark Age of Technology. -from C.Borer

Sadly GMCA is not who he was in Mk1, as he lost true sight and the points value is now too much for him to be of great value. B13th bring so much more to the table for just additional 2 points.

I also advocate mixed force for Cygnar. They have a lot of decent units and building a ranged army with melee counter punch is not too hard. It is fun to play and will not perform too shabby on the tabletop.
