So, having discovered a team mate had been shagging his missus, and the colossal poopstorm that is bound to unleash upon a chaps mind, Football Player Wayne Bridges has for the time, ruled himself out of selection for the National team.

That's right folks, an international level sporting star has, shock, HORROR! actually considered the team before himself. And this comes just as I was pretty much convinced all England players were a bunch of self serving ponces out for the advertising deal.

So, Wayne Bridges, whether your decision is an over reaction or not, I tip and indeed doff my hat to you sir. Few more like you, and England might start playing as a team and fulfil some of their potential.

And of course it might help if John Terry, former Captain and the villain of this piece, would do the decent thing and step down from selection as well. But I doubt he will. Seems a bit too up himself for such a noble act.

Wayne Bridge is getting the plaudits at he moment, fair play to him and all. But he is not as an important a player as JT. The football world and fans will consider his noble act of sacrifice whilst thinking 'better him than the other one'

Unless of course you either hate Chelsea, or are a fan of another football team which has a supply of good defensive players.

No doubt John Terry will carry on regardless because after all, Footballers are next to Saints and can in fact do no wrong. Honest guv.

I disagree with mr burning, i dont think Jon Terry is important because either way, if he plays or not, England have no fething chance of winning the bloody thing anyway! There is about as much chance of England winning a world cup as there is of jesus turning back up and announcing he is being best man at Vishnus wedding. Add to the fact the already pompous players would be so fething pleased with themselves i think id rather they lose. No fething England players play for Middlesbrough anyway, i spend so much time hurling abuse at the majority of the England team when they play the boro i find it hard to support the national team frankly. Does anybody else have that problem? :-)

Hmmmm. I now wait for Man. City to quietly announce that Bridge will be missing for the rest of the season due to a knee or groin that needs operating on.

Announcing that you are backing out of the team garners far more positive column inches than pulling out of the squad due to an on going injury.

I also am now expecting the Scum plus other rags to up their attack on Cashley Cole so that the FA knee jerks into another selection "dilemma". I.e. leaves us with no decent left backs.

On the plus side this could see Kieran Gibbs put into the Senior squad which would be no bad thing. [Unlikely]

I will start by saying I couldnt give a fig about football.

However when the world cup starts a strong sense of nationalism kicks in. I dont care about the matches or the goals or the play, just the score.

So that said upfront it might be no suprise if I confess I dont know who these people are but doff hat time? No thankyou.

I dont know what all the scandals are about because I dont read tabloids any further than the one or two second sweep to see if there is any news on the page. Thus i am vaguely aware of scandals and names and girls and Wags and all the other irrelevant things the people seem to find important.

So one footballer doesn't have the total lack of integrity shared with most Eng-er-land yobbo players. This doesnt make him anything positive.
Last time I heard when somone goes on 'gardening leave' or 'spends more time with the family' of whatever the equivalent is for overpaid chavs its still a disgrace.

Funny what is seen to be integrity nowadays, it is sadly indicative of our nation that the bar is so low.

Only footballer I respect is David James, because he has all these crazy ideas like footallers on performance related pay.
