Does anyone knows if there is anywhere you can get some bitz of old bolters. Talking about Rogue Trader style bolters here, at the most 2nd Edition. I have just fell in love with the fethers and when I am now starting to think about starting a small Salamanders Strike Force. Already got some plans on how to convert it, but if I can get my hand on an old sprue to cast from or some reproductions that would be effin awesome!

Yeah, you can get 'em from my bitz box. Generally, I would assume most people that have been playing a form of SMs since second edition have them lying around.

Playing Space Marine demo while GF was scrapbooking:
Me: I can turn it down, if the screams of dying orks are annoying you.
Her: That's ok, I love hearing the screams of dying orks.

My armies (W-D-L):
2,000 (about 1,200 painted and now I'm feeling the call of Russ) 3-4-3
2,000 (about 1,000 painted, WiP) 0-1

Well actually I know people hate GW and will flame me for this idea, but you can buy the older marks of armour in a pack, and the one of the suits comes with the really old bolters.

Or if you want the bolters that have the bar underneath you can go with.

But as for finding real old models of it, I would need a pick of the exact kind you are looking for, I only have current bitz websites, you can try ebay.

This is good.... isn't it?

Well I found one on eBay...

Only problem is me and eBay ain't friends no more... due to bad experiences in the past!

My ideal is even older though... =p

I won't bother.

These are 2nd edition Bolters:

As for Rogue Trader era bolters, your best bet is the RT plastic Space Marines, though they may be attached to the hand so you'll have to file them off. That or buy a ton of OOP Rhinos and rip the bolters off of those. Only problem with the Rhino bolters is that they don't have a magazine attached to them.

:edit: But I do agree, the RT bolters are fething cool haha.

Man, screw Spess Mareens, if I can get my hands on plastic beakies I will totally make an army out of them. Have an RT Rhino and Predator somewhere... and think my buddy's brother have an old Dreadnought too! =o

The RT Predator is the best. Never see them on eBay or anywhere else though.

the Space marine commander comes with a RT era boltgun and bolt pistol.

There is some other set that does too. can't remember what one does though.

Collectors sets have them.

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.

If you find a place where I can buy these, I WILL love you.
I've been thinking of making a squad of Spess Mehrins using these, but I'm not enough old or alert.

My plastic one did. though the date on the box said 1990 on it. it probably sat around the store for 12 years before i bought it.

The bikes are fitted with 2nd edition bolters... well, 2nd edition-ish. They're slightly different to the bolters that Marines were carrying.

Not a current model, then. Although I have no idea what model you're talking about, since I wasn't aware there even was a plastic Commander before the current multi-part kit.

An earlier Commander may have come with a plastic bolter, but there definitely wasn't a plastic Commander before the current one. Also, while the bolters on bikes do look a little older, they also have their magazines cut to fit onto the front of the bike properly (working on a Swiftclaw pack right now, using a bike that I've had so long it was still in a white box inside a sleeve).

Think that the biker bolters might be a good substitute if I do not find any RT ones. A friend of mine is posting me a couple of 2nd edition bolters he had lying around, I will get back to you on that soon ^^

I won't bother.

Yep, those are the 2nd edition bolters that came with the bikes I just put together. That tells you how long my backlog of models can be. Believe it or not but those are what qualified as combat knives back in the day, and they're only like half as long as a marines arm!

Here you go, on a Marine body ^^

Had to mod some Mk7 legs into Mk6. The green stuff was kinda old, so I might have to replace the legs. Oddly, I didn't have any spare beakie heads. Gonna go by the FLGS and see if the owner has some lying around, perhaps I can find some Mk6 legs too. =p

Edit: Obvious mistake, those are not modded Mk7 legs, they are modded CSM-legs, sry =p
