I was wondering if anyone has had any exp with min size squads of burna boyz in trukks?

I am going to add another 500 pts to my current ork army and I was thinking about adding 2 squads of 12 boyz with nob+pk and a naked truck. Then getting 2 more naked truccks haveing them be bought with 2 of my big shoota boy squads that the 2 5 burna boyz will steal for there own use.

All that comes out to 504.

The idea is to just have them hop out and drop 5 templates on something and cook up what they can. They will be a one trick pony for sure.

This will be when I go from 1500 to 2000. And I have alot of other armor rolling around. Mainly battlewagons so these 4 trucks will bbe the only armor rolling around as I know if that were the case they would get shot down quick.

I might be wrong, seeing as I've never tried such a thing (no trukks in my ork army atm) but you can fire from open topped vehicles easily, so you can just drive around and unleash template hell while your boyz are safe.

Burna Boyz inside of a vehicle are great. However, don't go with fewer than 10.

In smaller points games I ride 10 burnas in a stolen trukk, and they do exactly what they're meant to - annihilate anything outside of a vehicle.

So, all slots for lootas were occupied.

Under most situations, that is not a good idea.

Burna boyz are the greatest 15 point troops in the Ork army list. I, however go with 15 in an open-topped battlewagon, but that's mostly because I fight against lost of space marines and you can only ask so much from flamers.

If you've got the wagons, I'd recommend a sizable burna squad (10+) in one of those instead.
10 burnas is much more likely to burn an average squad down or almost down than 5.
Footslogging 10-12 boyz squads (the only size that can buy trukks) aren't exactly amazing, and being unable to deploy the burnas in the trukks is a pain.
I'd also recommend against disembarking if you've got the choice. A 7" move followed by open-topped template spam (all templates get to shoot and they all get the most hits, all while the squad is protected in the wagon) is usually the better answer unless you desperately need the extra ~8" right that moment.

If you're looking at your elite slots for cheap addons, try fielding the 5 lootas you get with a burna box a few times. I've been having great success with 2 such units deployed in cover around 1k-1.5k points, and for 150 points it's hard to go wrong. 10 burnas for a Bwagon and 2x5 lootas is how most of my medium points lists fill those slots.

Another thing to keep in mind. If your "shoota boy" squads have more than 12 models, then you can't buy them a trukk. So it's not really possible to take a large squad of shoota boyz and then give their trukk to the burnas.

It truly is one of the worst designed sets out there. Seriously, 4 actual models and a 'Burna Mek' (according to the instructions)? That unit hasn't existed for years, and was fairly rare in 3rd ed anyway. (Though I used mine for kommando burnas, and the extra mek bits to convert a painboy, so it turned out alright.) That's 12 boxes if you want to field a full loadout, over 300$.
I luckily managed to find an ebay auction selling 15 burna bits sets for something like 12$, and converted about half of my lootas using big shoota boyz with extra barrels sawed off of extra shoota/slugga arms and a shoota dual wielded in the other arm.

The point still stands though, lootas as a unit are pretty great.
