I remember hearing a senior admin on another 40k forum saying something about the Nemesis Force Weapon of a GKGM ignoring the "Eternal Warrior/Adamantium Skull" rule if the GKGM manages to pass the psyker test. This wouldn't have bothered me, but yesterday I saw an inquisition player beat the living crap out of a SM player, and the match ended when the situation described above materialized (GKGH vs. Marneus...).

Is this just bs, or does the NFW actually ignore these rules? Before yesterday I'd just laugh at people claiming it negates it, but now I'm not so sure...

For thirteen years I had a dog with fur the darkest black. For thirteen years he was my friend, oh how I want him back.

The NFW(and inquisitor force weapon) does not cause instant death.

"...if the test is passed the opponent is slain outright, no matter how many wounds it has"

above is a quote from the Demon hunters codex; witch hunters is similarly worded. Eternal warrior ignores instant death, which the NFW and IFW does not cause.

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.
Stop looking for buzz words and start reading the whole sentences.

Technically, yes, that's correct. The Daemonhunter Codex has seperate rules for Force Weapons that therefore overrule those in the Rulebook - and instead of explicitly causing Instant Death, it causes the model to be "slain outright" - which is not prevented by Eternal Warrior.

The regulars at my store always just play them as rulebook-style Force Weapons, but technically they can kill Eternal Warriors in one hit.

Yes, the DH NFW can cause models immune to "Instant Death" to be "Slain Outright".

Anyone saying otherwise is not playing by the rules.

And really, give them a break - they need it!

Plus, well, it is the rules!

My Inquisition forces could perhaps agree to use the newer Force Weapon rules... if we get new rules for everything else too. But people complaining about the FW never seem to care that the =I= codex forces pay higher prices for crappier vehicles and crappier wargear. The FW is a small bonus and can be used by exactly two models with better than S3.

But where is "Slain Outright" defined, hmm?

Where is "the" defined, hmm?

40k is not an inclusive ruleset.

My gaming group plays the Inq Psychic Hood the same as the SM one, along with all the vehicles updated to newer rules. It's a fair tradeoff imo.

i'm fine with the DH being "upgraded" to the new rules for the same wargear. they'll give up their instant death immune outright slaying force weapons and table wide psychic hoods but gain 3++ storm shields, teleport homers that actually work, terminator armor that's relentless, etc. but yes, it currently does ignore eternal warrior.
