No, it's not enough. I don't think any of the Lizardmen characters are worth taking. You can honestly get more out of a stock Slann and a pair of Engines.

Like most non-DoC books, the special characters are neat but overpriced. You'll get more mileage from a pair of engines and a tooled up Slann. With the Engines you effectively have two Lv.3s and a Lv.4 and if memory serves your Slann can use the Priests as focus points, so count as casting from their position rather than his own for range purposes.

Ugh... against a Slann and two engines, I don't know what I'd do. Wouldn't be much fun to play against...

Isn't tetto'ekko mounted on an EoTG? I could be wrong, it's been a little while since I looked at the army book...

All of the Skink characters are WAYY over priced. So are most of the Saurus characters.
I find that the two Slann characters are pretty good. Lord Kroak is a bit expensive but he can do some real damage. His only real issue is that he only has one spell! It is pretty good, though. Mazdamundi, I find, is not over priced. He costs less than a corresponding Slann and an Ancient Stegadon. I use Mazzie at 3000 and just used him at 2000. He is devastating!
Anyone who uses two EotG at less that 3000 is kind of a jerk. Granted, it is massively effective. It's a pretty cheap way to win. IMO

I suppose that 1250 list with 2 engines for the doubles toruny is pretty f'd up then eh? It is a tournament after and Im sure we could make something much more cheesy if we wanted
OT: You can definitely do a magic heavy list with a slann and 2 engines... and I would honestly rethink about not using engines just cause they are "over used". They are one of the main parts of most lizardmen armies because they are so effective and just all around awsome. You would be better off using them rather than special characters as stated before.

My 'ard boys list had 4 EtoG, tekko and Kroak worked very well. I have also tried out a 4 EotG, Kroak, Slann combo and basically I call it the Gungan army. It reminds me of the scene in Starwars where the big dinos have those energy shields on their backs (EotG) and crapy army of gungans (skinks) march forward with the one fat frog leader (my Slann and Kroak) surrounded by body guards against the droid army. It is a oddly fun list. Use Comets to force the enemy forward and kill engines while you march for their center and pop off the odd lightning bolt against key targets. Then once in range go supper nova with the engines doing their bubble attack and kroak blasting off his bubble attack as many times as possible to hit multiple units multiple times at short range. I've had a lot of fun with this army because the comets always cause funny events to unfold each and every game.

Plop 4 engines down in a game under 5k and I'll hand you $200, then smash each stegadon you own with the BRB.
Let alone 2 special characters. The fact that a list like that was involved in tournie or campaign play is a burden on my soul.
Oddly enough you can tell a 40k player pretending to play fantasy at these types of events.

I don't really follow this statement. The more 'cut-throat' tourney lists typically involve a great deal of ItP and big blasty things that cannot be touched by a reasonable, balanced response. That mindset isn't a 40k-only kind of thing where pure Fantasy players all seek zen within their composition.

If the list is legal, then play the thing. That is what tourneys are about, if you have a problem with that, then don't play and quite whining about events not meant for you. If the event coordinator wants a fluffy event, then he/she can set up a non standard rule set on list building.
I don't get what the hang up about special characters is. Most of them suck, the few that don't suck usually cost a bit too much, and the handful that are reasonably priced and aren't bad are rarely seen. (other than in daemons lists) There is no permission rules as far as I know for unique characters, so what is the issue? The taint from the bad old days of hero hammer?
If somebody thinks that list price is good enough to smash up someones models... The attitude that you have that you can smash up other peoples work just because you get butthurt over toy soldiers is unacceptable.

Note that he said it was for 'Ard Boyz guys. The tournament where you take the most unbalanced list possible. Not a friendly game
