Do I stand to benefit more from using a fully mechanized ork list (i.e two battlewagons, x amount of trukks, some koptas and sneaky snikrot) or can I sub one of the wagons and a trukk or two for a nobz biker unit? I'm talking about 1850 so i understand one fully kitted nobz unit is like what 800 points so it would only be between 6-8 nob bikers. Does anyone think this would work as a "hybrid" or would i actually be losing the strengths of both list types. I know that at 1000 I have been playing a 5 nob biker unit with a warboss on a bike alongside one battlewagon and a trukk and it works perfectly so hypothetically extrapolating to 1850 should retain effectiveness no? Granted my friends (Tau and space marine) would be getting more fire power at increased points so that is why I'm asking.

Well, here are some questions:

Do your friends field any weaponry that ignores FNP or cover saves?

Can you think of "Worst Case Scenarios" wherein your nobs would be called upon to save the day, or if they fail, the rest of your list?

What would be your ideal lists in both cases; one with the ork bikers or one without.

Well Tau would have Railguns and plasma rifles off the top of my head that could do some nasty stuff to bikers but since i have an 18" assault range with them i don't have to worry about rapid fire and the measly amount of shots means the cover save at all times should keep them alive... Space marines will similarly have lascannons and plasma guns be they pistols or canons oh and if the land raider is kitted with flame throwers i would be a pretty huge noob to let my bikes get caught in them seeing as how like i said, i control the distance gap as long as the enemy isn't using bikes themselves.

Worst case scenarios are not my highest priority but with a warboss i could imagine having to use them last minute to secure an objective or what not. thankfully, with a couple of trukks w/ boarding planks and nobz with pk i should have some degree of freedom in dealing with vehicles, and the boyz inside would still allow me to assault infantry that were posing a problem. twelve slugga boyz are no match of a unit of terminators but they can certainly smash a crisis or two not to mention a 5 man tac squad. Ideally the list would also contain kommandos and snikrot to get the jump on some sort of heavy support unit.

For your last question, I would like to use ork bikers because I have 9 bike models from the megaforce and i would hate to see them go to waste.

You could always give them to me.

Seriously though, I would highly suggest making a list of what you would think would be the optimal army. Questions about taking "this with that" are mostly tactics forum questions, but people do not mind answering them here either. Make a list, then see what people think about it. If you are committed to fielding the 9 bikers in some form, make sure to include that in your thread.

Just remember that Nob bikers are infinitely better than regular bikers, of which you can see the differences within the Tactics Artikle about Ork Taktiks. Doesn't take too much konvershun to make'em nobz.
