Im new, so if this is in the wrong place, I am really sorry...

So, question one: what is the minimum number of storm troopers I can use, and can they augment a squad of shock troops?

2: can a vindicare assassin be used in an IG army? (I have him left over from my old army)

3: Can steel legion units integrate into shock troops or another troops unit?

Sold everything.

You should post this in Tactics or General Discussion.

What do you mean by augment.
The min number in a squad is 5, four troopers and 1 sergeant.

2: You can take them as a DH ally.

3: What do you mean by integrate?

Augment
1 : to make greater, more numerous, larger, or more intense <the impact of the report was augmented by its timing>
2 : to add an augment to
3 : supplement

I mean to replace a grenadier etc, in a shock troop squad of 10.

Integrate
1 : to form, coordinate, or blend into a functioning or unified whole

I mean to take a standard Steel Legion trooper and use them in a squad of shock troops.

I have some leftovers of an old army and I was wondering if and how I could use them.

Sold everything.

Shock Troops, are you talking, Storm Troopers, Vets Squad, Infantry squad.

Yes you can stick a steel legion trooper into a regular Infantry squad. It just uses the Infantry squads' stats.

Assassins these days are covered by the Daemon Hunter and Witch Hunter codexes. You can still have them in your Guard army, but you also need to include an Inquisitor Lord and retinue.

so would something like that work and be legal in my army?

or this?

and if its the latter, what should I purchase to create said retinue?

Creed is an upgrade for the Company Command Squad (CCS). He is able to give more orders per turn as well as the TACTICAL GENIUS! special rule which is handy. Anything the codex lets you do is legal. Take some time and read through the codex and see what options they have.

And yes you can buy the Inquisitor, but he won't satisfy the requirement for the HQ slot.

Which probably isn't a bad idea these days. Since you could then pick up a Psychic Hood and a pair of Mystics.
