Hi I have wanted to do salamanders for a while but I wonted to do an army on like a volcano lava base with lots of light reflection and convertions. So I thought of this marine scheame it took me a while to finally put paint to model for this army. Im planning on giving some helpfull tip and tricks with this thread too. first up my converted Drednought.
what do you guys think.

I'm liking it! The thing that bugs me is the small gap between the assault cannon halves.

hmm ya I got that piece in a trade a while ago it was already put together. but eh im working on the multi melta since im runing Vulcan alot anyways.

What classifies this dread as "heavily converted"? Not to be an ass or anything. I see you added a flame burst from the flamer and "lava" around the base, but thats all I can spot.

haha I guess heavily wasn't the best word to use lol. the only conversions are the plasma burns on his head the flame burst and the base.
but also I can't really think of a good symbol for my chapter anyone got a cool idea?

I'm kind of liking the hammer dragon head thing and yes I have decided that that will be the color scheme for the chapter.

and heres a tatical maine srg still working on the base but the model itself is turning out well

I think you should greenstuff or paint on some scales on the dread. That would look wicked!

Oh Painting some scales on the armor sounds awesome love the Idea!

I like the silver, red and black scheme (though i would add more red, for that 'dragonish' / fiery look)

I also agree with munch! on the scales (make then red too).

Note: i dont see how that base has lava on it. I think you should green stuff the lava rather than using (sand?).

I think the lava surface would look better if it where smooth instead of sandy.

hmm ya I tried the scale armor on the silver and I didn't really like how the final result turned out I was looking at the vulkan gw pic for inspiration. Then I tried the lava scales on his cloak out on a shoulder pad and thought that that was going to be the symbol for my chapter and adds that distinctness that would make my chapter stand out a bit more.
What do you think?

thanks but im a little torn between putting the lava on the red shoulder pad or the black shoulder pad.
