I recently started 40k, space marines. Between AoB and the Battleforce box and then a few other things I bought this is what I have.
10 man tac squad ML. Flamer, non upgraded SGT (AoB)
10 man tac squad Heavy Bolter, Flamer, Powerfist SGt
10 man assault squad, Lightning Claws Sgt, no jump packs with a rhino to put them in
5 man CCW scout squad, Powerfist Sgt with a landspeeder storm to put them in
5 man sniper squad can swap out Missile Launcher or Heavy bolter, including Sgt Telion
AoB Dreadnought
5 man Terminator squad with Cyclone Missile launcher (AoB with a Cyclone my buddy gave me)
Powerfist Chaplain
Librarian with plasma pistol
AoB Captain
And a Commander from the Space Marine Commander box loaded out as Cato

So, my options are for the 5 marines I have left to build is give them things like plasma guns, meltas and such and use them to switch between my tac squads.
OR I could make a 5 man Sternguard veteran squad...suggestions?

Sternguard really need to be in large units, at least 8 and preferably 10, to be effective, and they need a transport for two reasons:

1. The boltgun is the sternguard's best weapon--massed fire, and the more massive the better, will be a threat to anything that's not a vehicle. But 5 boltguns isn't enough to get the level of firepower you need.

2. Everybody knows that sternguard are a big threat, and 5 marines is an easy KP, so they'll be a prime target and such a small squad won't last long.

Use your 5 bodies to make a command squad.

I hadn't thought of a command squad, How would I rig an apothecary though?
I guess I could just paint it white and put a red cross on his shoulder pad...

Converting an apothecary should be a simple enough matter. If you have a spare Auspex hand you could have him looking at it as if hes scanning a patient.

I think I have an Auspex on the Space Marine Commander sprue, looks like a thing with a handle and sun looking thing at the top?
