Here's a little something I've been toying with of late:
Dreadlord - 262
General, Cold One, HA, SDC, Soulrender, Pendant of Khaleth, Potion of Strength
Master - 214
BSB, Cold One, HA, SDC, Lance, Shield, Hydra Banner
Master - 330
Manticore, Deathpiercer, Armor of Darkness
(3) Dark Riders - 117 each
x5, Musician, RXBs
Harpies - 55
x5
(2) Cold One Chariots - 100 each
Cold One Knights - 235
x5, Full Command, Banner of Hag Graef, Ring of Hotek
(2) War Hydras - 175 each
...
The focus is the Cold One Bus, which has both the general and BSB. That thing'll hit like a ton of bricks, regardless of who does the charging. Dark Riders and Harpies control enemy movement, chariots and hydras support. The manticore has 'shock value' written all over it. Obviously, it needs to get into combat right away to counter magic.

I like the no magic and fast army thing with lots of monsters.
However, I'm not sure about putting all your eggs into a basket that might end up stupid. Granted with the dreadlord's Ld of 10 the chances seem slim, but you know it will happen that one time that you don't want it to. Having over 700 of your 2k points in one unit sounds risky, but fun What if you dropped the chariots for another unit of cold one calvary with command, crimson death, and banner of murder and have your BSB in that unit and your dreadlord in the other. Have them stay together anyway... oops I was thinking the Hydra banner had a range. Oh well nevermind.
Do you still get a +2 bonus to strength from a GW when you are mounted?

No, the strength bonus is only +1. But Soulrender is armor piercing, and being in the unit makes him swing first anyway. So he's attacking at S5 with a -3, which is pretty good for just about anything. When needed, he downs the potion for S8 (characters, cavalry, etc.). With the Pendant, he can stand up to any character and take hits to protect the unit.

Double hydras MvD? I was with you until that last (2) ...
Lots of the best DE toys jammed in that cold one star makes for a fairly neat little bomb, and the manticore always makes me happy to see rampaging the table. But like I said, 2x hydras makes me pause (in a bad way).

Oddly enough, I don't really have any issues with the double Hydra from a "I like to avoid cheese" standpoint. With such a huge portion of your army wrapped up in Stupidity tests and it being rather difficult to maneuver 7x Cold Ones, I think you really need higher maneuverability units like the Hydras and RBTs really wouldn't fit for the list too well.

I love the DE cold ones... so any list emphasizing them is a win to me!
Speaking of which, can someone tell me what the infantry models with what I think is a Cold One hide draped around their shoulders are? I thought they might be corsairs, but they don't look like them on the website, and I can't find any pics of them online... there's a block in the case at the local GW, so maybe I'll ask what they are there. Unless they're conversions...

No, those are indeed corsairs, although what you are describing sound like the previous edition's version. For the new corsairs, the emphasis seems to be sea dragon cloaks, rather than just having sea dragon hide wrapped around them.

I've been running lots of Hydras since the current book came out (moreso than the previous one, I assure you!). They really don't stand up to the hype in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, I think Hydras are good (VERY good...), and maybe even underpriced, but a single Hydra can't stand up to as much as you might think without help. The list is designed to outmaneuver the enemy and get combined charges (except for the Bus, which can crack just about anything on its own). Besides, what it gets in hitting power and speed, it gives up in magic and counter-artillery. My only solution to a dragon would be to somehow get it into combat with the Bus and let the general soak up the hits with the Pendant.
