life.

if i take a retributor squad (the heavy support sisters unit - think devastators -) the book states they can take an immolator as a transport. the immolator is also a heavy choice. can i legally take this unit?

I collect:

Grand alliance death (whole alliance)

Stormcast eternals

Slaves to Darkness - currently Nurgle but may expand to undivided.

Yes, as the Immolator then becomes their transport, taking up no other slot.

You cannot because you are not allowed to bring along Heavy Support (in this case the Retributors) choices when you ally. You are allowed 1 HQ, 2 Troops, 1 Elite, 1 Fast.

You can take Dominions in an Immolator, Celestians in an Immolator or a Canonness Celestian Retinue with an Immolator.

Any unit that can take a dedicated transport will usually count that as part of their FOC. A Retributor squad of 6 or less models can have an Immolator. Funny enough a bigger squad can't have a Rhino...

A moot point as you can't have them as allies. SoB as the main army is another option ofc.

ANY dedicated transport counts as, without taking up, the same slot type as the unit taking the dedicated transport. So it no longer counts as Heavy Support.

Yes, but the Retributors are still Heavy Support and thus not available as allies, transport or no.

He did not ask if they were legal as allies, just about the transport option, so asked and answered as such.

Sure, but the point is, many newer players are going to take an answer here as "gospel truth". So a misleading answer could lead to him misplaying his army, etc. That's why it's nice to give complete answers, as (fortunately) others did.

Which is why a good 60% of Posters here need to be stopped, but I digress.

Yes, a Sisters unit with an Immolator Dedicated Transport is perfectly acceptable.
