he sets up first. Commodore goes on a hill in his deployment zone (on my left). mariner besides the hill on the left. The pressgangers ad left from the commodore. The seadogs deploy to the right of the cannon. Rockbottom and Doc go behind the seadogs. Hawk and Bosun go to the right of the seadogs.
My setup is: bane thralls on the left (facing his pressgangers and the mariner). The first ripper and slayer to the right of the thralls, then gaspy and skarlock (all nice behind a rock. then the 6 scraps in a line to their right. the mechthralls deploy behind them. at the very end the second deathripper deploys with the warwitch and the 2 pistolwraiths. Cankerworm ad to just beyond the rock.
First turn:
he moves everything up slowly. casts a few spells and uses a coin to make the seadogs tough.
my turn I run forward with the first 3 scraps. then Asphy and skarlock make them detonate using breath of corruption. leaves 3 nice clouds to stand behind... everything then moves up to stand behind it. The pistolwraiths move over the right flank accompanied by the ripper who got a focus to run from the warwitch. they can't be seen as they are next to a rocky outcrop.
second turn:
not much shooting. he advances the pressgangers on the left and shoots at the ripper on the left with commodore. He misses and rerolls scatterdirection. he scatters back and does nothing.Bosun on the right shoots at the ripper and does some damage, not enough to be of interest though.
My turn I use all my focus on myself. the left ripper takes up position to hit the pressgangers via the node. the skarlock positions itself and the ganger are just in reach of the breath of corruption. it hits 2 and they die. The node on the right runs around the outcrop with a focus provided by the warwitch. Then gaspy drops another breath on the gangers, killing 2 more. he also casts parasite on the seadogs. 3 scrapthralls run up and engage the seadogs. cankerworm moves towards the mariner and then uses its extra move to engage it. he is sacrifice unfortunately. the wraiths use 4 shots to kill bosun. (damn tough...)
Turn 3:
mariner gets 2 focus. Shae moves first and pops feat. Almost his entire army moves forward a bit. The seadogs that are engaged move up, the line behind them engages the scrapthralls. he then sets about killing things. In the end after all shooting and melee is done I lost 3 scraps, 3 mechthralls and the slayer has taken a hit taking out his right arm from the commodore. Cankerworm is alive with all systems intact thanks to bad rolling for the mariner and hawk who joined combat. He lost 7 or 8 seadogs to the scrappies (1 to a free strike, the rest bij detonating them...)
My turn I give 3 focus to cankerworm and upkeep parasite. I then move a deathripper to take aim at a few pressganger who engaged cankerworm. Asphyxious is up next. He arcs a breath of corruption through the left node and takes out all but 1 ganger. he then moves up 6 inches and feats. the sea dogs all die (my opponent was so kind as to not give them tough

). I get 2 souls from dogs standing close to gaspy. I then try a boosted hellfire at shea and hit. damage roll is poor despite boosting, however shea only gets 5 or 6 points of damage. I keep the last 2 focus. This is my big mistake, which I see just a minute too late... skarlock casts scyting touch on canker. Cankerworm is next and boosts to hit with the bite on the mariner. Damage roll is also boosted. Mariner takes 10 damage, not good... the tail gives it another 8 damage just enough to take out the combatweapon. I then look at what is left. I realize my mistake and try to get a defensive position for gaspy by surrounding him with mechtrhalls. A pistolwraith takes out doc. the other one flys trough a rock running into a position for next turn. I try a charge on the mariner with the ripper using a powerboost from the warwitch, but fail to reach by less then half an inch. end of my turn, I now need to hope gaspy lives...
Turn 4:
My opponent sees his chance and keeps all focus on shea. rockbottom gives moneyshot to the commodore and moves up a bit. then firebreather takes out a few mechtrhalls and does a few point on gaspy, causing fire in the process. I am so dead... Shea then walks up and casts blow the man down. Not much damage again, but now I am knocked down... Commodore fires a solid shot at me and takes me to 2 wounds left. Master gunner takes his shots and hits with one shot after another. he only wounds me 1 time for 1 wound. In the end Hawk disengages from the cankerworm and fails to damage with it's first attack. The second does 3 or 4 damage and gaspy flees the field...
I made a huge mistake by not teleporting to safety. I was lucky to still have the worm and should have used it to take out shea too. as it is I failed to do that... Also the fully boosted hellfire was a big mistake. I should have killed dougal or try for the commodore (who already lost 1 crewmember...) ah well, live and learn... At least we can recruit a lot off new soldiers from the dead seadogs
