Hey folks,

I recently purchased an older Basilisk tank that was NIB. The box has the older gold and black Warhammer logo on it and has a copyright stamp of 1998. I was wondering if this model differs in any significant way from the current Basilisk kit that is available from GW? I bought this older kit with plans to open it but now I am having second thoughts since it is a cool example of the older packaging style. If this kit isn't too different from the contemporary kit I may leave the old one sealed and buy another one from my LGS.

I know a new Basilisk kit is coming out in a few weeks and has fewer options on its sprues, but I am specifically interested in comparing the late 1990's Basilisk with the kit available in the last year or so.

Thanks!

depending on what you paid for it, it may be cheaper to go with the old one. i haven't purchased one yet. but it looks like the body of the new Hellhound. a little more narrow. i don't know what else the new one comes with, but you can see the sprues on the GW website.

Thanks but I am looking for information on the kit that was available prior to the new Basilisk kit.

The older kit comes with a sprue of wheels and a sprue of tracks, as well as the main chimera sprue and the Basilisk gun platform sprue and the accessory sprue.

The new one comes with the new Chimera sprue and the old basilisk gun platfrom sprue and has only the accessories that are on those sprues. You don't have the problem of leftover wheels and tracks anymore.

Basiliks model itself has never changed. From 6th March onwards, the old Chimera chassis will be replaced with the new one, but for some reason, Earthshaker platform is still the same old.

From 2003 to present, Basilisk kit has included current Imperial Guard Tank Accessory sprue and a Cadian heavy weapon crew sprue. Before that it had the older accessory sprue and no crew, although metal crew models were available separately.

That place is the harsh dark future far left with only war left.

Thank you! This was exactly what I was looking for.
