So, I had a blog a while back featuring my rather lackluster Cadian army. Then some time after that I started collecting CSM. Around the same time I started realising I still want more IG, but still build up a CSM force. This blog is the result of building two armies at once, and whatever else I felt like buying just to paint up for fun.

First up is one of the Stormtroopers that have long been awaiting a build. He's not quite finished yet, still have some small details to figure out.

Some better pics would help . If I am correct those are FW drop troop heads? They seem a little bit narrow . Just a suggestion for the bane-blade, if you have any way of spraying the tank with the paint your using, laying sticky-tack across it to block out patterns can make for some cool camo.

I like these guys! I think you should dirty and rust up the oil tanks.So are these guardsmen going to be part of a traitor guard?

@Karl: Yup, those are the Elysian heads. They are a bit narrow, but I like the way they look. Sooo, take the good with the bad I guess.

@Munch: I planned on maybe adding some oil streaks coming off the caps/lid, but who knows. And no, they're for loyalist guard.

Semi-update: I've finished the initial squad of 5 for my IG stormtroopers (good thing I have miles of guitar string layin around) and painted up a few more Chaos Marines. I'm just bein lazy about uploading the pictures, but I'm sure I'll get around to it soon enough for ya'll. I won't be getting any work done this weekend however, gotta go play Army .

I'd give the commissar a wash to give it deph. The basing is pretty bad. You need some sand on it.

haha I apreciate the honesty, and yeah the basing is pretty bad at the moment. It'll get touched up or just totally redone in the future (ie. when I finish painting him)

Oh, I just noticed this: Your paint seems to be a little thick.( most notably on the pants and collar of the coat.)It might be from the pics though. I would also weather and wear the book abit, to look like it's been passed down through several generations of commissars and has beeen through some battles.

Looking good, i don't believe I have seen that commnisah before...

So, stopped into the shop this evening, and what do I see? A new plastic venerable dread that's screaming "buy me! Convert me!". So that's exactly what I'm doing. Now just to wait on FW brass etch to arrive within the next 2 weeks to 3 months.

It's be a while since I've been back to update this thing, but much needed housework was calling my name. Not too many pictures this time, mainly just showing the Ven. Dread that I've been working on and a couple showing the aftermath of a Land Raider attempting to deep strike off my desk.

Nice work, nice ideas and i hate that commissar (the model's pose i mean, not the painting, he looks as if he is reciting a line from Romeo and Juliet.) Your painting is nice.

On that dreadnought, maybe you could try your hand at painting glowing Daemon faces on the panels, like you see on the "Servants of Khorne" army in the rulebook, page 229. The Defiler looks nice with it. Wait, what chaos faction are you painting your guys as?

It's no specific legion, but the colors are based loosely on the Night Lords scheme...even though it's a Khornate army... And I'd love to try painting some of those glowing daemon faces that you were talking about, I just don't know where I'd begin or how to even pull something like that off.

So Dakka, I'll leave it up to you! Teach me to paint tiny little faces in tiny little spaces!

So it's been somethin like five and a half months since I've updated this thing, but I have gotten some things done! I've just been busy with that crazy ol' thing known as reality, and I don't like it one bit. Anywho, here's a fairly decent photo dump for ya.

The chaos guys look pretty good, dark and menacing. I also like the guardsman with the ammo and grenades on the shoulder pads.

I couldn't see the mould line on the enginseer pic, and I was looking really hard. It then occurred to me it was on the other picture, not the first one...
