That's your first army?

Lol awesome job man, they have a very 2nd edition feel to me for some reason. I don't know if it's the particular tones of blues and yellows you have achieved or what.

Keep it up!

colors a little brighter then I have for my wolves (yet again I paint them dark) but I love your style, very clean, almost heavy metal in it's technique. Good freehands to boot. makes me sad that GW stopped production of their 13th company wulfen models. What bitz did you use for the claws.

Russ be praised brother

Thanks guy! I appreciate the comments. I tried to go with the same color scheme as the one in the codex. Being new to the hobby, I didn't feel comfortable doing my own style. I am looking forward into trying to armies and painting them my own way after I am more advanced. As for the claws for the MotW, I used Genestealer hands. Got 8 sets of arms for $2.00. Can't beat it.

I really like your painting style, especially the face and hair you've done, Logan's eyebrows are so expressive

The use of Genestealer hands is inspired, I would never have thought of using them, hope you don't mind if I steal that idea for my Wulfen Lone Wolf

I learnt to play with space wolves a long long time ago but they wernt no where near as nice as yours. These are fair hot stuff for a first army esp the grey stuff and I like the muck/rust on the rhino to. Space wolves are a pain to paint how they do them in the codex because theres no base colour on sale for it the box sets say shadow grey but its nothing like it its some mix and if you do shadow grey it one of them colours where every pot is a different colour lol.

Good stuff thought like it.

Looking good.

As for sculpting fur, I found this tutorial very useful: http://xenite.wordpress.com/modeling-painting-and-hobby-articles/how-to-sculpt-fur/

It was pretty straight-forward.

Finished my first Wolf Lord. I actually swapped out the storm bolter with a bolt pistol. I was too lazy to take a picture of it again and upload. The change was made because a few Dakka members helped me out with some pointers in the Tactics thread. Originally, he was geared with runic armor, MotW, frost blade, storm bolter, wolftooth necklace and saga of the beastslayer. After learning that it wasn't exactly the best build, he is now equipped with runic armour, bolt pistol, frost sword, wolftooth necklace, belt of russ, and saga of the beastslayer (saga is still subject to change). I learned that the extra S5 power weapon attack would benefit me more than two storm bolter shots. Basically, I took the runic armor for the cheap +2 armour save. Terminator armour was considered, but I couldn't put him with my power armoured squads and benefit from the sweeping advance. Gave him a frost blade for the +1 str. Special thanks to Anpu42, Brother Ramses, and Demogerg for the tips on wargear. Hope you guys like it!

I had been experimenting a little a good shade of base coat, and I think I finally found what I am looking for. Here is the first batch of Grey Hunters I finished. Still trying to figure out how to paint the base. I intend on adding snow and some grass on top of gravel. Anyone know a nice way to paint the gravel?

I started with the Space Wolves too! I am thinking about doing a squad of 13th company(wolf guard) all messed up from the millenia of war.
I like your idea for MoTW dudes, but as an idea, maybe you could cut up sections of armour, GS some fur, and mash the armor back on.

You had to have come in from another game system, because you are just too good for this to be your first army! If you didn't, then that just makes this that much more impressive! Keep up the good work.

Negative on the other game systems. Warhammer 40K is my very first.

Finished my first Rune Pirest today. This was actually the first time I used anything for basing. Asked around in my local GW, and my peers suggested using cork or tanbark to create rocks, cliffs, etc. For his power weapon, I used a power sword arm and cut off the blade. Had grey stuff to make the shaft and the tip of the weapon was a bit from the SW pack. The scroll attached to it was from the devastator pack. I cut the right leg and played around with it until I had my desired pose. I plan on using only using runic armor and chooser of the slain as upgrades for my cheap, yet effective, Rune Priest. He will be sitting back with my Long Fangs pack to blast away with living lightning (unlimited range of str 7, ap 5, assault D6), along with 1 lascannon and 5 missiles (2 from Wolf Guard w/ cyclone missile launcher). I'm very satisfied with my conversion. What do you guys think?

Officially done with midterms! Now the only stress I have to be doing is getting my models finished. Here is my Rune Priest. He's still a WIP obviously. Excuse the multiple pictures under different lightning, but I just wanted to show the best (natural) image of him since pictures typically don't do models justice. It is by far my favorite, and most proud piece I have done, Which is probably why I painted him relatively faster than my other models. I started painting this afternoon, and I would say this is about the 4 hour mark (with breaks of course ). Got caught up playing Starcraft II for about 45 min, which gave me more than enough time for the washes to dry. One problem I have been having is that his runic weapon keeps breaking off where it meets the hand. I've probably applied glue there 3 times already. I am afraid it will begin to clunk up and look nasty! Well let's hope it doesn't. Let me know what you guys think.

The army looks really good so far, the conversions reallyt work well.

What hands did you use for the MOTW marines?

I like the staff conversion for the Rune Priest, but I think it needs a bit more work.
It looked like a Wolf Priest to me before I read the text.

Grim Teef came up with a really simple conversion for a librarian pyschic hood using an extra shoulder pad.

I failed to attempt a wolf headed hood. I would actually get a pretty decent snout, but as i slowly started to build up to the cranium, my putty kept pulling away from the hood, which basically ruined the whole thing. It must've happened at least 5 or 6 times. I gave up in frustration . Very disappointed... oh well, still satisfied with my Rune Priest-- with hood or without!
