Hey guys... Just came back from My local GW games night and have been issued a challenge!
Ash the Manager has challenged me to a 1000pts game next games night against his Space Wolves.
Now I only have 1000pts and I have nothing else to build and will struggle to get it built in time for Thursday.
Ash knows my army list and he has 4000pts to play with, All I know is he is taking Logan and some meltas to deal with my Dreadnought!
Any ideas how to go about not getting completely obliterated! I know i wont win, but at least a draw would allow me to show my face for the next few weeks!
I await your wise council!

I do believe some more information is in order.
What army do you play?
What is your list, if you can't change it at this point?
What is his normal playstyle and favorite units?
How did your previous games go against him?
If you're playing for a Draw, just hope for an objectives mission and concentrate everything on destroying his troops. He may crush you in return, but he can't win without scoring units.

Well since it is only fair he knows your list i think you need to know his list. That way you can build up a tactic for dealing with what he has. You are limited in what you can use due to lack of funds or whatnot and he has tons of possibilties with 4000pts. Ask to see his list way ahead of time like a few days or so and then go from there.

There is no shame in losing well. Play to the best of your ability and damn the consequences. You may not win, but you can damn well be the best 'loser' he's ever played.
Then again, to me, there is no difference to winning and losing - my ego does not need the reinforcement of a win and can handle the losses.

Bravo!
I've always thought that the folks who can't handle loosing must be very insecure in themselves and in need of some self-validation.

I lost my last game but as it was a really close thing until the very end I enjoyed none the less. The WAAC thing is not the way I like to play neither should you, enjoy gaming not wining.

PS: This post in no way endorses the everybody must win spirit inherent in modern school games . There are winners and there are losers but the fun is in the game not the end result. Automatically Appended Next Post: BTW why don“t you add some unknowns to your list and proxy some hw/special weapon combos? If allowed your opponent might be surprised when he charges your Dread only to find it fully kitted for CC work.

As more detail has been requested. I shall indulge you all!
Playing as codex marine for this game
Im currently running 2 tactical squads, both with rocket launchers, one with has a flamer and power fist serg and the other a plasma gun.
Ive got a dread with CC and Assault cannon (Unfortunately I prematurely glued these so I cannot change them)
Hq's are a Captain with Arti armour, Storm bolter and Relic blade - Command Squad with Apothacary, champion, vet with flamer vet with power sword and plasma pistol and one with bolter
Chaplain with Plasma pistol.
Also I've bit the bullet and Bought a predator, it was on my wish list anyway, If I can get it built and sprayed black(stores minimum standards) I'll run it with Auto Cannon as Las sponsons I think, and extra armour.
I know Ash will run Logan Grimtooth and at least 1 squad of wolf clam termies. Possibly an Assault squad if he can get it all to 1000pts
I know he has issues with tanks and dreads, but that said i watch him destroy IG with 3 predators in a 2000pts game today against a relatively experienced player.
Ash is on a run at the moment (i think his new Girlfriend helps) Hes on 5 out 5 games in the last 2 weeks.
All comments very much appreciated guys. Now Ive got to work some funky custom extra armour for My Predator.
Your help is anticipated!

Do you know if he uses foot slogging troops, Drop Pods or Mechs up? Those will be a factor as to how to deal with his army. From what you've said Mech doesn't sound too likely, not with Wolfguard Terminators and Logan.

I have very little more information. I know he has drop pods, but unsure if he will use them as he may decide to chuck in an extra unit.
My predator is coming on. Just putting some dragony fins on the back. to represent extra armour along with some chunkier plating. I will attempt to find my phone cable and upload a poor quality image!

Take this to mind, if you are going to infact lose and can't help but know it, then make him bleed for every inch he takes. For every maneuver, have a trap waiting and bite him every step. Walk into his hellfire dealing what punishment you can. You may lose but in the end you will feel like you won more so if you gave everything you had and walked away with some glory more than you should have gotten. Play to play. Don't get hung up on if you are going to lose, just figure how you can make him suffer every turn you get. I used this mentality at my last tournament, faced that Jawaballs guy with my World Eaters. I figured I wouldn't win but I decided to make him bleed as much as possible. Turns out the amount of damage I dealt pigeon holed him from the top 3 rankings. Don't keel over and lie on your back, go in there teeth gnashing ready to go for the throat, even in your death throes.

@kurgash
Cant argue with you there mate. I'm usually happy to lose, and I am now. Just would be nice to give the FLGS manager a run for his money.
Thanks for all the input, I will let know of the outcome!
