Yes this thread is dead. Because RAW is BROKEN. No matter what anyone says doing a RAW issue and trying to throw something up to screw up someones game is not why we play this game. In the 6 years i have been playing warhammer i have never wanted to ask anyone about RAW issues.
Last weekend i went down to my local GW and talked to the guys there and brought up several of these issues.

That Drop pods still mishaps if they land on units (Trygons too)
That if you roll the same twice when determining who goes first the game ends because you cannot reroll a reroll.
The HT cannot DS
The mawloc cannot come up under units
and our favourite the doom does not get a invulnerable save.

After speaking to the team of 4 (and the store manager), they all told me the same thing, we play this game for fun and trying to bring up a RAW such as this will not win you any sportsmen award, and this is not how the game is intended to be played. We all agreed that all of these are silly and just trying to create issues for other players, while i cannot change some peoples minds on these rules. Please consider. Playing this game like it is, a game of which we try to have fun, dont bring up RAW sillyness if the answer of what was meant is pretty obvious.

Oh i see, so being ignorant to people is the way that we play this hobby is it? No we play it to have fun yet most the time people who try to bring up RAW issues (even though most the time they are correct, like i agree as the rules are written mawlocs CANNOT DS directly onto units), are just doing so to try and ruin someonelses gameplay/tactics. I have played with several players who are RAW fanatics and i can say that they were my least favourite games. No we dont be nice because we get awards, we try to be polite and courteous to our opponents because we actually want them to enjoy the game against you. If you dont, i cannot see why you partake in this hobby because if nothing else it is a social one. And also mocking someone because of something that is actually done, (people are not nice in tournaments because sportsmenship awards are given out, more along the lines that they are nice people) is also actually quite rude, i know you may not care, but to be honest i'm quite glad the majority of people i play this hobby with are not like you.

In my orginal post what i was stating that most people who bring up RAW issues in games of 40k are not doing so because they think thats the way the game should be played, more along the lines that they dont want something powerful to mess with their armies, or the fact they wish to mess with someone elses gameplan. If i didn't make that clear, i apologise.

In responce to Gwar!, these are a couple of the issues i have encountered when i was playing a RAW fanatic (I am calling him this because even RAI was obvious or what he was reading was, poorly worded, he would never let up, thus i have stopped fielding mawlocs simply because i cannot be bothered to have a debate on its "Terror from the deep rule). Sorry if some of them are not what has been ruled on this website, but more of my own personal experiences.

Sorry if i came off slightly annoying or preaching or however you felt that i did. But what i was trying to state in that orginal post (after re-reading i agree that i did not do it well) is that most people who do bring up RAW issues when playing someone they do not know (such at a local club or GW) is that they are not doing so because they feel thats how the game should be played, but more to try and ruin someonelses game. I agree some of the new rules are poorly worded and using RAW is needed until GW releases FAQs on the matter. I am sorry if how i came off in the post felt like i was attacking anyone in particular or in fact anyone in YMDC but i was merely trying to state my opinion on people who think that RAW is the law and anyone that deviates from it is an idiot. (And yes some people who are like that do exist, even though in the minority)

It seems we have the usual bump when communicating through an electronic medium, the lack of being able to tell the tone of which someone has made a statement. I too apologise, if i offended you or made comments about your character but i think we may be in trouble for going OT =).
