Subject: Techpriest, Fluffy oriented Iron Hand army: How viable would you say it is? (1500pts)

Having completed my competitive IG army, i wander in the uncharted codexes of the space marines, looking for something unusual to build a small funny army out of.
I found it after a while: Techpriests. They are independant, certainly not abusive, i never see them anywere. I never see Iron Hands either. Would be pretty fun to field a small army with them around, every squads led by an attached Techpriest, and they could fit in razorbacks, oh my!
I built a small, 750pts list consisting only of 3 razorbacks. One with a Master of the forge leading a command squad, and two with Techpriests leading 5 man tactical squads. All 3 of them having a servo-harness, they could fire both flamer template and plasma out of the hatch. Heh, not too competitive, but surely durable and fun!
But, it was quite a waste of the techpriest repair abilities. So i went a bit further and added some vehicules those Cyborgs of Iron hand would favor: Dreadnoughts! Giant bodies of steel commanded by the corpses of their best marines, truly the best an iron hand can aspire to. And, gaps, surprice, i ended up with a list that not only shine by how perfectly round the numbers are (and i just love it), but that might prove relativly strong too!
But i never played space marine. You guys tell me what you think this would be worth on the tabletop:
HQ: Master of the forge. Servo-Harness (flamer and plasma) (Joined to the command squad) = 100pts
Command squad: 4 Veterans, 1 Apothecary. 4 x Meltaguns, Razorback Transport (TL Heavy Bolter) = 200pts
Tactical Squad: 4 Marines, Sergent w Combi-Melta, Independant Techpriest w Servo-Harness (Flamer and Plasma), Razorback (TL Assault Cannons) = 250pts
Tactical Squad: 4 Marines, Sergent w Combi-Melta, Independant Techpriest w Servo-Harness (Flamer and Plasma), Razorback (TL Assault Cannons) = 250pts
Venerable Dreadnought: Multi-Melta, Close combat weapon (Storm bolter), Drop pod = 200pts
Venerable Dreadnought: Multi-Melta, Close combat weapon (Storm bolter), Drop pod = 200pts
Dreadnought: Twin-Linked Heavy Flamers, Close combat weapon (Heavy Flamer), Drop pod = 150pts
Dreadnought: Twin-Linked Heavy Flamers, Close combat weapon (Heavy Flamer), Drop pod = 150pts
Total: 1500 points
First turn, while everyone is still in transport, the two Venerables drops. Rerolling dammage table mean i have big chances to keep dammage to ''immobilised and weapon destroyed'' results that i can later repair. I can smoke them if too dangerous.
Second turn: Flamer`s Dread drop and scorch any infantry on foot.
Everything in the army can move and shoot, everything has a vehicule armor value and can repair. I`d say that, more then fluff, it could be a pretty scary army! What do you think? And those points cost are all so round!

You cannot have a Command Squad without a Captain(and they aren't that good anyway).
That gives you 200 points; give the Master of the Forge a Bike and a conversion beamer(-55points)
Add a Power Fist to each Sgt (-50 points) take a Min Bike Squad for the MotF and give the sgt Melta Bombs (-95) back up to 1500 points
Alternatively just a Master of the Forge with Conversion beamer (120) attached to a Dev Squad with 3 Missile launchers and a storm bolter (145) in a Drop Pod (35)

I'd say that with 4 dreads all drop podding you essentially have 3 low AV transports with heavies on them on the table on turn 1 so potentially bad saturation for you.

Zain: only 2 Pods would come in first turn(I added a 3rd for him/her) and the Pods are only going to get shot at After the dreads have been dealt with; which is no small task if 2-3 of them pod in 1st turn.
Also if all the enemy anti tank is going after Pods and Dreads that leaves the Razorbacks moving in for some more kill.
This is a Very good List with many Tactical options, well once it has been Legalized; and target saturation 1st turn is more than fair.

Yea, I still disagree. The numbers of models with wounds he's bringing is really low even for Iron Hands. I love the idea of them, but 4 dreads and 15 dudes with 3 razorbacks
is great, I would just drop the pods from 2 of them and turn them into rifleman dreads.
I do like the army, I just think on turn one he's got very little on the table especially if he doesn't get the initiative.

Rifleman Dreads are awesome(as are Mortifactors), but The Multi-Melta hits so much harder.
Say we have him drop 2 Pods out of the list and change to 2 Riflemen that's 150 per Rifleman so the same cost as the MMpodreads. however they are relegated to shooting at transports/light MCs and Med Infantry.
It would take those 2 Rifleman 3-4 turns to kill a carnifex or hive tyrant vs the 2-3 turns 2 MM-dreads would take(less if an assault is initiated) Automatically Appended Next Post: Rifleman Dreads are awesome(as are Mortifactors), but The Multi-Melta hits so much harder.

Seeing as i cant take a command squad (too bad, it fitted quite well), and im out of all my elite and heavy choices, i guess i could replace the Master of the Forge Command squad in a Razorback by an assault marines (no jumpacks) squad of 9 with a powerfirst in a rhino.
Command squad with razorback: 200pts
Assault squad with PF and rhino: 197pts. Close enough
I had my share of long range shooting and lots of units with my 150 models imperial guards. I`d be more looking for a fun alternative with few models that get close and personal. Surely i can hide those 3 rhino behind a piece of terrain somewere if i loose the initiative. Even if they get partial cover, i dont mind them taking a hit or two, as long as they dont downright explode. I can repair them. Allright, that`s still only 19 marines and 3 Techpriests, but they are going to hide in their transport as long as they can, shooting out of the hatch untill the dreads need support.

What you could do is give the MoF a conversion beamer (thuogh I don't think you can take a harness) plop him on a bike and give him a bike retinue. With the relentless special rule the MoF can fire the beamer while on the move.
The rest I do not think is too bad.
