A friend and myself have constructed a "Tale Of" style event between us. It's to help him get motivated painting and for me to do something other then guard! We both plan on making these fairly show off armies. I am trying to figure out what to do however. I have several ideas.

Kroot as "Counts-as-Tau": Have Kroot riding battlesuits (I figure a combination of the real battlesuits and sentinel bits), combine Kroot and Tau bitz for the footsloggers. Vespid could be jetpack Kroot. For Pirahnas I was thinking of converting up some doomwheels (think Kroot Sphere's from BFG). Not sure about the really big stuff yet. A high tech Kroot army really.

Space Wolves: This might be simply because of the models. The new range is so insane. My idea is for a last ditch, abandoned force. Gritty and beat up. A couple or more Lone Wolves. A more elite force. Maybe not good on the table, but looking good!

Ninja Eldar: Well, maybe not so much "ninja" as, like above, elite. I have this idea for a dark, heavily forested very ancient maiden world protection force. Very dark armor. Mostly footslogging with some bikes and what not (After all, it is a heavily wooded area!) . Some walkers and Wraithlord and the such. Avengers, Rangers, Banshees. Almost an oriental, mystical quality about them.

Zombie Necrons: A necro-tech force doing "Counts As" I am thining a necromancers/etch guy as the lord. A buncha zombies with tubes and wires and what not as warriors. Some freak who uses the dead as his warriors. A chaos tainted techpriest sorta guy.

Blood Angels: Because the entire gaming world won't be playing these or anything!

Khorne Berserkers: Pretty simple concept right here

Help me Obiwan Kenobi, you're my only hope.

Misery. Missouri. Who can tell the difference.

Ok your idea for Space Wolves look at the 13th Company in the old codex Eye of Terror.

Oh, somewhere in this favored land the sun is shining bright;
the band is playing somewhere and somewhere hearts are light, and somewhere men are laughing, and somewhere children shout but there is no joy in Mudville — mighty Casey has struck out.

Well..

The Tau idea is really cool and very unique! I would love to see pictures of it!

Well painted, gritty space wolves would be cool. You see them a lot in the codex but people often (like me) paint their space wolves to look nice and clean. Tons of weathering, especially on the infantry would look awesome.

I really can't comment on this because I can't see what you are seeing. Forgive me for my lack of vision here.

Zombie necrons would be fricken awesome. I love the basic idea behind them. Totally original.

Blood angels would be cool. But like you said, it will be unoriginal

Khorne berserkers are pretty sweet. Chaos space marines aren't being seen as much (IMO) so they would be a welcome sight.

I am not obi wan konobi but if I were to narrow down the choices, it would be between gritty space wolves and zombie necrons.

I have narrowed it down a bit I think

Necron Army: A "counts as" army, but more a medieval/steampunk style. I am thinking floating castle for a monolith (or town for multiples!). It would even have the jagged rock and everything like it was torn from the earth. The meat and potatoes would be various iterations of zombies and frankensteins and strange creations.

Khorne: Really juiced up, jaaaaaaaaakked up ones too. I would do some mods using heavily muscled arms and/or torsos, bigger weapons... just crazy killers. Ork arms would probably work dandy. Even their torsos in some cases. (maybe fantasy ones?) Just pure marines too. No demons or anything. Just jacked up killers in juiced up vehicles with lots of blood (for the blood god) and skulls (for the skull throne)
