Well, the subject says it all really. I have a squad of 5 SW terminators from 3rd edition. They seem a bit smaller than the new models and they're mounted on small bases.

Any ideas? ebay 'em, trade 'em, mount 'em on bigger bases and hide 'em behind the new bad boys

What did you do with your old models?

I have over 40 terminators, a mix of metal 2nd editions, plastic 3rd edition copies of the metal 2nd editions, and the new style of plastics that are currently available.

Are these the metal 2nd edition ones or the plastic 3rd edition ones?

if they are the metal 2nd ed. Wolf Guard termies, paint em up and use them, they have held up well over time. compared to the ghastly 3rd ed. plastic ones, which I have used as base-models for a true-scale squad.

They are metal. Already painted. So just mount them on the big bases and play? They do need to be mounted on the bigger base, right?

Yeah, they will need the larger base. Otherwise, if you like them, no issues. I think it's kinda cool when armies have mixed figs; makes it look more "veteran" having a mix of old and new, if you follow my drift.

No they must be mounted on the bases they came with, which for them are the smaller bases. I have two squads of metal termies I use and 2 quads of Larger termies I use in some games.

Nothing is wrong with them using the smaller base if that is the one they came with.

I just use mine.

I have enough original Space Hulk Termies to make a Deathwing.

No way I'm just going to throw them away or remount their bases.

Should I ask about the bases over in the rules forum? The guy at my FLGS said they would need to be re-mounted. Maybe it depends on where your playing? I kind of want my army tourney legal in case I
make it to any official events this season.

Always check with your TO to find out. Locally to me, those marine players with older metal terminators HAVE just added a 40mm round underneath the 25mm round.. give a small height boost and keeps the bases in line with current models.

You don't HAVE to, but I think if you choose to, you will avoid a lot of arguments down the road.

RAW you use the bases they came with. IE: 25mm

Your local store may house-rule it to require the larger bases.

Don't mess with the classics! leave em as is i say. I even leave models as they are if they are hurt in battle, for example:

My greater demon wiped out a squad of blood claws once then proceeded to attack a land raider. He destroys it and i sit him on top, sort of like a victory lap. Well in his moment of glory, the table gets bummped and he falls headfirst from the land raider.

The Keeper of Secrets now has 3 arms and a very deep flesh wound. His other arm is used in the armies standard now....

moral of the story, gravity does not like slaanesh.

+1 to updated base size.

Keep the old Termies but enlarge their bases.

I had a bunch of old Chaos termies for my Iron Warriors before I sold them. I just glued them on their base and everything on top of a 40mm and then used greenstuff to make it look interesting. They end up being about the same height and being pretty impressive looking.
