OK, so I bought the Grey Knight Omnibus on Monday, and I have finished the first book, Grey Knights, and am currently working my way through Dark Adeptus. So sorry, the title is a bit misleading, but I haven't finished it completely yet. Anyway, I thought the first book was interesting, and there were sections that I couldn't stop reading, but overall my feelings are rather meh. The technical errors aside, there were several loose ends, some distinct plot holes, and I was annoyed with the author's treatment of some characters and their fates. What are y'alls thoughts on this? Did you love the books? What were some problems you had with them?

How is it they live in such harmony - the billions of stars - when most men can barely go a minute without declaring war in their minds about someone they know.

Warhammer 40K:
Alpha Legion - 15,000 pts For the Emperor!
WAAAGH! Skullhooka - 14,000 pts
Biel Tan Strikeforce - 11,000 pts

I really enjoyed the GK Omni, though Dark Adeptus was a little transparent (and the worst of the three). Also the GK Chaplain dude shouldn't technically exist (as there are no GK Chaplains).

I thought the first book was good, though I was sad that Tancred died "in vain" so to speak.

I recommend you survive Dark Adeptus and move on to Hammer of Daemons. The last one is absolutely epic, IMHO. I think you'll probably like it, but it depends on your standards. Obviously, YMMV. Definitely read it though; don't let the second book throw you off.

I actually loved the second book the most... So yea, as with any book YMMV, everyone experiences it differently I guess.

Yeah, not gonna lie, Tancred's death was just dumb, as was the entirety of Squad Santoro. I really didn't understand what the heck was the point of all that. I was really disappointed with Valinov's death, and really his character in general. Ligeia was interesting, but underdeveloped.

The third book is the best in my honest opinion and you'll see why when you reach it.

"From the fires of Betrayal unto the blood of revenge we bring the name of Lorgar, the Bearer of the Word, the favored Son of Chaos, all praise be given to him. From those that would not heed we offer praise to those who do, that they might turn their gaze our way and gift us with the Boon of Pain, to turn the Galaxy red with the blood, and feed the hunger of the Gods."

I really liked the omnibus. Its the best omnibus I have read so far. the last story is definitely the best. And I know what you mean about killing off characters -- wait till the last book and you will understand totally!

Welcome to the Daemonhunters, the ranks of the exalted Ordo Malleus and their cannon fod....er, I mean, loyal allies. Remember...the only ones who need fear the righteous might of the Ordo Malleus are the Daemonic.
