I know I spent a lot on doctrines(nearly 1/3rd of my army) but each one has a purpose:
Grenadiers: gives me 50% survivability vs bolter fire(much better than the 0% without it)
Forward Sentries: 3pts/model for defensive grenades isn't too terrible; and Stealth is a good idea for taking objectives in cover.
Demolitions: mostly taken for the democharges(I love them soo much) but also for extra anti-tank insurance.

On to tactics:
Flamers go in the lone Valkyrie, both Meltas in the paired Valkyries, and both Plasmas in the paired vendettas. Commissar and Primaris each go with a Melta squad. Paired Valkyries are set on on flank, Paired Vendettas on the other, Lone Valkyrie in the middle; Scout move consists of both squadrons of skimmers moving flat out to exchange places, and the lone Valkyrie going flat out foreward at an angle towards the nearest concentration of troops. Plasma gunners are to be offloaded into cover to provide supporting fire and camp objectives; Meltas and fleamers are there to mop up infantry and heavy armor.

You can't take all three doctorines in a single squad.

PM me and ask me about Warpath Wargames Norwich or send me an email

"The squad can choose any of the following doctrines:"

Up, looks like you can.

Seriously you may choose as many of the available doctrines as you want, they are only Cost-prohibitive.

Sounds very cost ineffective for what you want. Lots of veterans i see. It looks like a very good airbourne fast attack force. The vehicles, heavy infantry, and monstrous creatures you fight will have a problem. Dunno if this army is good against space marines and necrons esp. those monoliths which screw up meltaguns. You have 1 close range demo charge in each squad and you better pray each one works which it probably won't. Nextly you're spending too much on doctrines that you probably won't all use.

it does make them all hella expensive though.

Snare mines are good. Properly saved my vets from an ork assault.

I usually don't care. If a squad's gonna die then it's gonna die. I let my enemies kill off an entire squad and forget wasting points to keep the squad to stand a melee assault because next turn they're in the sights of an entire army of lasguns and special weapons .
