Hi, this came up in a game last night.

Say my Callidus assassin is in an assault and at the beginning of the assault I want to use Jump Back. I roll a 2 for my jump back distance and attempt to move that many inches away from the enemy that I was in assault with.

However, I am surrounded on all sides. 2" movement isn't enough to let me move away from all of the enemy models surrounding me. I am either on top of an enemy model or within 1" of them.

What happens in this situation?

Wobbly model syndrome: you move the Callidus the least distance possible to actually place the model, you are still engaged and the assault combat takes place as normal

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.
Stop looking for buzz words and start reading the whole sentences.

Not sure what this has to do with Wobbly Model Syndrome, but sounds correct. You wouldn't be able to jump back and would, therefore, be required to remain in assault.

You would remain in assault as there was no way for the Assassin to move into a legal position.

Say that I did roll enough to move away (say I rolled 6). Am I allowed to move through enemy models? Like for example if I was surrounded by models can I move 6" through one to the other side?

No, you may not move through the space occupied by other models.

If you were a jump pack you could do so, as you are moving *over* the other models.

Surely you could just move vertically 2" and then claim wobbly model? Obviously this is dependant on the height of the models he is engaged with being less than 1".

Nothing lets you move vertically through the air except in ruins....

Hold on, I'm too busy deep striking my army 3" below the surface of the board using Wobbly Model to find you a rules citation.

Find somewhere to place the model, then claim wobbly model

Hmm, I'm guessing that if I "place" it two inches above the table and then said it's not staying put you'll growl(quite rightly too)? So... On top the tree/branch/fence/banner!

Yes I'm being silly and I do understand that 'on the table' at least needs a connection sorta thing, but yes, is there anything forbidding vertical movement (other than lack of practicality or a unit that performs like this.)

Nothing forbidding it, however you are told you move from place to place - and you have not dont this if you are holding it in the air.

Like most things there is nothign *permitting* it.

Oh I was going to let it drop as proof that it's not staying in place

There is nothing permitting or denying vertical movement anymore than horizontal movement. You can place your model in the air, it won't stay there for obvious reasons and then you are entitled to claim wobbly model.

If you head down this path you're basically claiming movement is impossible.

No, I am claiming that movement is defined as moving a model from place to place on the playing surface, as that is how you determine how far you have moved.

Until you have put it down on the surface you have not moved anywhere....(disregard embarking, which is different anyway...)
