Righto, heres the scenario

Frenzied unit "a" has a character "a" in it.

character "a" declares a charge.

Frenzied unit "a" is forced into charging as per the frenzied rules.

At this point, regardless of what order the charges were declared, character "a" is now stuck with Frenzied unit "a" while the units charges.
The character cannot leave the now charging unit and is carried along for the ride, correct?

my "friend" had a vamp with a unit of 1 blood knight (the other 4 perished to stonethrower related injuries), the blood knight was forced to charge my block of 25 gors with bsb and we ruled that the poor vampire was stuck with his last remaining blood knight.

This is how its supposed to work right?

That looks right, with the added disclaimer of I can't find my rulebook. I'm pretty sure a character joining a frenzied unit is along for the ride, similar to a character joining a Stupid unit. It does not work the other way, though. A frenzied character can be lured out of a non-frenzied unit.

You played it correctly. The vampire could have left the unit only if it weren't subject to compulsory movement. In this case, it was.

Now a twist: Could the non-frenzied character declare a normal charge OUT of the frenzied unit, thereby taking away the frenzied unit's ability to charge at all, compulsory or not?

I'm not suggesting it's a viable frenzy-control technique to launch solo characters out of frenzied units, but I thought I remembered this being legal ...

I thought about that when I was answering. Even if you could successfully argue that he's allowed to do this, it doesn't help. The frenzied charge moves during compulsory movement, before other charges, so he'd be swept along with the unit before he was able to execute his charge.

The frenzied charge rules stating you MUST charge overrides your voluntary declaration of a charge. One of the BRB faqs clears this up I believe.

Yeah, there's no way around it. If you're silly enough to be hiding in a frenzied unit, be prepared for a bumpy ride - you WILL be tagging along with their mad charges.

Thats what i thought, my tournament army before beastmen was all Khorne WoC but I've never wanted my own characters to ditch a charge like that before.

I shut down the vamp magic phase and his general exploded as soon as it touched my CR7 unit.
