They've mentioned it several times that it was coming and that they weren't sure exactly when but they expected it to take around 72+ hours..

Course, how much does it cost to travel to Games Day or to Memphis for the Waagh and such and do braodcasts from 'on location'? I'll admit it, I'm a Freeboota (one of the paying customers), and way back when, I actually made a suggestion to Spencer regarding paid subscriptions for special access....................

uStream.com hosts it. No cost.
When it comes to 'server' and 'specs' aspects. In truth - it really isn't as much of a kicker. They aren't fully streaming stuff off their own.
But its all good - no hate. Just sayin~ the facts.

Hey, good for them. If I could make money doing something I love then I'd be pretty happy. Besides, they give away the podcast for free, so that's all I care about.

As long as the content you want is interviews and no real substance outside of making fun of someone slurring their words because they are half drunk, yeah it's great.

In my opinion, 40kradio started going downhill a long time ago, sometime shortly after Phil left. In recent months they've noted and taken efforts to return to a podcast that's actually worth a damn, bringing back segments like "Third Party Products" and Chipley's new "Noobie corner". Spencer even acknowledged in a recent episode that they knew quality had slid and they were going to bust their humps to shine the show back up.
They're working on it, but in my opinion they're just not there yet.
Try Imperial Vox Cast or World's End Radio for something different.

I still listen to 40kradio for giggles, but there's more 40k talk on DLT.

Worlds End Radio mainly covers Blood Bowl
It's my 2nd favorite gaming podcast next to The D6 Generation. They cover everything GW has done from Specialist games to the main systems, so every show has a different focus, but they talk about news and new releases every episode, so they hit all the current GW systems regularly.

I second DLT. 40k radio has its own merits but they really just goof around and bag on each other(at least they used to I have to be and say I have not listened to them since about Aug.) Even though I quit playing 40k for a while to try Fantasy out I still listened to DLT just to stay on top of things in case I decide to come back to 40k. The D6G is awesome but really they dont talk about GW much at all anymore and focus mainly on the new hotness so to speak

I tried to listen to Dice Like Thunder.
The audio quality was horrible.
I don't care if it is free, but get better equipment.
a bunch of guys all using the same mic, in a room that echoes, sounds like crap.
This goes for most of the podcasts out there. Almost all the Warmachine podcasts suffer from this.
To me, that is what sets the good podcasts apart.
40kRadio, D6G, World's End, Podhammer all have great sound quality.
D6G and World's End are the only ones who have kept consistently good content.
Probably as a result of their wide interests.
Iron Agenda is creeping up there as well, tho they are an exclusively Warmachine podcast.
Another thing I enjoy is the banter.
This makes 40KRadio and Podhammer stay on my playlist.
There are times I laugh out loud listening to them.
Its like hanging with my friends talking about hobby stuff.

That's precisely why I listen to the Myriad Games presentations. D6G turned me on to them, and their podcasts are nice, short bundles of boardgame fun. It's definitely like goofing off and chatting with your regular gaming group.

It sure used to be like that, but the Chi-town gang have really got things together recently and audio quality post-Mack is now pretty good. Better than 40kradio's I'd say as often I find it hard to pick up what Chipley's saying, while I have no trouble with understanding Tricky Dick, CSwizzy, Dan and the gang. I must admit I'm a freeloader when it comes to podcasts, as there are so many out there and I only really listen to them to relieve the boredom on my 1/2-hour commute to and from work, so I just take what's out there for free and skip through them. If they get boring or crap in some way, I fast forward onto the next download. I synch my Blackberry every morning with my iTunes playlist so there's always a good deal of new crap on the thing to listen to.
