Okay, so I have a pin vice sitting in front of me. It's a "Formula 3" Modelling Drill & Pinning set from Privateer Press. I've seen tons of tutorials of how to pin models, but I can't figure out how to get the drill bit to fit in. I've taken it apart as much as I can by unscrewing stuff but the only way it will "stick" is if it's really really crooked.

Are you having trouble fitting the bit into it, or just using it?

You should have a handle, two collets (these hold the drill bits) and the locking collar (these are the respective parts of a pin vice). The collets are double-sided, so you have 4 different bit sizes you can use - essentially).

Match the collet up to the drill bit you want to use (some bits may need pushing into the 'jaws' with pliers - tight fit). Put the collet into the body of the vice (drill bit facing out, obviously), fit the locking collar onto it and tighten.

As for using it, there is usually a knob or ball at the other end. This usually presses against your palm, while your thumb and fingers should be holding the knurled handle around the area of the collar. You turn the 'drill' with your fingers, and allow the knob/ball to freely rotate in your palm.

I thought I had it figured out, but now I'm having another issue. The bit keep's "falling" into the collet when I apply a little pressure. It's gets so deep that the drill pit isn't even projecting out at all.

I've got one collet and two drill bits that are the same size.

Have you taken the collett out and looked at it closely? It's double ended, so the end you're using is possibly too big for your bit. take off the collar, reverse the collett, replace the collar, and try again, should help.

I happens with both ends of the collet and with both drill bits. If I push a little bit the bit sinks right into the collet until it disappears.

Unscrew the back end, you have another two collets back there.
