can a squad (vets) that is in a chimera Receive orders from a commander (creed) who is in another chimera? also can troops with plasma/las guns still rapid fire out of the ports of a chimera? the next questions also refer to the firing ports of the chimera. do these firing ports and the chimera have to shoot at the same unit, also if the tank is stunned are its firing ports stunned as well? ty for reading

Ok, I'm not sure about the receive orders part, but 5 can fire out of the firing ports of the chimera. If the vehicle has moved, then the figures shooting would count as having moved. So assuming that you are within the 12" range you would be able to fire (2 shots). If you have moved and are not within 12" you would not be able to fire IIRC.

No.

pg. 29 IG Codex.

Yes, so long as the chimera didn't move at cruising speed or wasn't shaken/stunned last turn. Oh, and if they're in range.

pgs. 66-67, BGB.

No.

GW FAQ?

Yes, basically.

pg. 67, BGB.

The vehicle and the embarked unit are NEVER the same unit, hence the basic rules of the game allow you to fire at different targets.

Damn, I never realised that orders couldn't be issued to an embarked squad. I regularly have my command squad with autocannon inside a chimera order 'bring it down!' on themselves. oops.

Yup. It appears that the UK's ridiculous H&S laws have filtered through to the Imperial Guard and Soldiers inside Chimeras have to wear earplugs to protect their fragile ears.

hmmmm, so a command squad cant even give themselves orders if they're in a chimera. that kinda throws the fun out of orders.

No, it means you need to risk your squishy troops on the outside if you want to get the benefit of orders.

Its called balance.

Id prefer they balance things in a less silly manner.

A commander cant shout to his men in the same truck as he is and tell them what to do? That doesnt sound ridiculous to you?

Orders are our version of psychic buffs like eldar get, which can be used on people if theyre in a transport if the buffer is in the vehicle too.

They shouldve used the same logic here.

What you prefer is, if you follow the rules, fairly irrelevant.

The entiire game of 40k is an abstraction away from reality, resulting in "stupid" situations such as you can only assault a unit you shot at....yet because this has been around a long time, people just accept it.

This is one of those things.
