A while ago i started to make an undead (counts as chaos) army for 40k, it went through quite a few different phases untill i got something i was happy with. Its still not quite finished, lots of painting to do and a few units remaining such as terminators, finsishing the defiler im making and some sort of fast attack probably bikes. But its getting there and i thought id see what people thought. Here are a few pics of the current army, the first is my hq and then my dreadnaught whcih were recently finished, building anyways, and then a couple of army shots.



This is my Vampire HQ, which will count as Lucius the Eternal.

Hmm there is no undead in the 40k universe. I guess humanity & the space elves finally killed off all the Vampire Counts & Tomb Kings some time between Fantasy & 40k.

In many official GW publications there have been corpses that move and talk in the 40k universe. IIRC Also in the original Space Hulk game they had a dead marine warn the Blood Angels about their impending doom. So I would say undead isn't such a huge leap from GW canon.

There are plague zombies, at least. There is room in the canon for undead.

Isn't there an offshoot from Chaos that works like/looks like corrupted IG. Legion of the something or lost and the damned?
But that's another post.
The Vamp count looks good can't wait to see him painted.
The skeletons on the horse's might do ok for the fast attack you want. Don't CSM bikes only have a set of twinlinked bolters? Just stick one in each hand.
What's with the skeletons with the sniper rifle on the big base?

Yep, the HQ is the vampire count, lucious the eternal, the zombies count as plaguebearers, and the bone giant counts as a summoned demon until I can figure out what else to use him for or build a better demon. Was thinking the Grim Reaper.

Im not to sure about the horses yet have to give them armour or something to spruce them up a bit. The sniper is made from an IG heavy weps team and I was thinking I could use it as a renegade imperial guard sniper. Not to sure about the rules thier but I don't think it would matter that much in friendly games.

I thought about using Necrons at first but for some reason I find them really boring. I like the idea behind them but theres just not enough units to have a unique army. I could maybe use the ctan(i think) as my summoned demon just give it a scythe and its good to go.

Here a few shots of what Ive been working on, firstly my Skele-ork, at the moment yes it looks like an Ork with a different face but im hoping to turn him into a bulky ghoul type creature. If it works out there will be another four of them counting as posessed marines or just normal chaos marines.






Secondly Is the Defiler that need a whole new paint job (used to be an ork vehicle) and lots more greenstuff work. I need to find a way to make him look undead.





and last but not least is er.... this. Not really sure what it is just thought it looked cool, maybe a massive cloak and a scythe instead of a sword and itl be a decent grim reaper.
