Hey all,

So I am gathering my materials and ideas for my Ultramarine project, and I know I want to paint my troops in a mix of classic and modern styles (so using classic iconography and company markings, but using the new metallic look, plus a bit of weathering so they aren't 100% pristine). So far so good, but I am trying to figure out how to get the tiny iron halos painted on the shoulder pads of the squad leaders. The current decal sheet has the iron skull markings for the seargents, but no halos. It's been forever since I owned a 1990's version of the decal sheets. Did they come with halos back then?

Anyway, I am sort of dreading trying to freehand a circle that small. Any suggestions on how to approach this? Better yet, has some enterprising person made third party decal sheets with halos?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

Bell of Lost Souls has a section on their website with downloadable decal sheets. Go through them, you might find one your looking. Just buy a sheet of transfer paper, stick it in your printer and print off the decal set you like, easy as pie!

Oh also, they have a 'blank template' decal sheet, it gives you the size of the average marine shoulder pad so you can design your own decal in photoshop or even MS Paint. Makes it really easy, the just print on the transfer paper!

Nice! I will check them out and see if I can find one. I have never used transfer paper in my printer before (to be honest, this is the first time I have heard of its existence!). Is there a brand that works any better than others? I have an inkjet if that matters.

Thanks again.

Ink jet is fine. But you're going to have to take great care with them. Let them dry OVERNIGHT and then you need to apply a thin layer of spray varnish.
there are tuts for it on Bell of lost souls that you should read.

Aha!

I knew I remembered seeing a decal for these back in the day.

Now, anyone know where I can get 10 sheets of these old decals?
