I'm looking at picking up the following at the Forgeworld open day this month but before I do I was wondering if anyone's built these and experienced any problems with them (large gaps, major filing needed etc).

Hydra
Manticore
DKoK Ryza Pattern tanks
Medusa (Armageddon pattern)

A Tyranid winged hive tyrant is also on the purchase list for the other half.

I have put together 2 amra pattern medusas and both of them i were unable to assemble the interior becasue they were that warped. 1 of them i got for free from forge world becasue the first one was in such bad conditon when i recieved it. If you buy this kit be prepared for tears

If you buy any FW kit, be prepared for some work.

Some are very well cast - most will require some work in reshaping or unwarping. Some will also be unfixable.

Fixed that. Resin kits are always something you will end up dedicating time to, provided it's a sizable kit. Small resin figures or minor bits, while they can be finnicky to assemble also tend to be fairly easy to work on.

Agreed, all resin will at one point of another, need some kind of work, although I will admit I notice FW kits need it more often then other companies. If anything, you will at least always need to wash it to get the release agent off. Of coarse, as said, some will need reshaping and gap filling (I have never experienced any MAJOR gap filling needed, especially on vehicles), but thats just how resin is.

FW models really are for the advanced level of hobbyist. The pieces are usually warped, will have gaps, and break really easy. I would not suggest them to someone just starting out in the hobby. They can be a real pain to work on but are really worth it when you are finished.

Really hot water will usually fix your warping problems, unless the figure is irreparably damaged when removed from the mold. As for air bubbles and resin "spooges" clogging up detail, your mileage may vary.

2nded. Warped models a pain, but it's amazing what you can achieve with hot water and a couple of g-clamps. Buy a couple of smallest size b&q do for a fiver each - a worthwhile investment. Also, to give them their due, fw customer services are very helpful.

Hot water usually helps with warped models.
