Wish I was in INDY!

Sadly, it's a long hike from Miami to come play Vor

I miss playing my Neo-Sov's!

Never count on rolling to save your ass. More often than not, average in tight situations runs far below average.

I played them all at some point, but I always identified best with the Union. My largest armies were the Union and Neo-sovs, but I still have a lot of Shard models. I picked up a small amount of Pharon for my wife to paint, as she likes ancient egyptian stuff.

Go on over to www.bioplazm.com for a purely VOR forum run by Skuzzy, who plans on releasing a Vor 2.0 sometime in the next few years.

I still have a sizable force of Growlers and Union troops. Problem is, I have so many OTHER games I never get to play, either.

And that is still a haul from Indy to Valpo for a game.

Any advance word on VOR 2.0 yet? I haven't been following as closely as I should.

No... I don't think he has been making much headway. From what I understand, he recently had a baby so that threw a wrench in the process for a while.

Sadly the website subscription has expired. I'm afraid this signals what I have not wanted to believe and that is Vot 2.0 is truly dead. Skuzzy's unwillingness to work with an established company or publisher was IMO, what prevented Vor 2.0 from having any real chance. Really is to bad because there a plenty of companies looking for a solid game system to compete with 40k and Vor was definently one with potential. All well I still cherish my neo-sovs and Growlers. I will still keep hope that skuzzy's life plan will make room for Vor 2.0 someday.

I've got a bunch of this stuff around the back room if anyone is interested.

I've got Union book,an Ares, 2 squads of Union and thier SF guys

A Growler book, a bunch of growler pups and the giant growler bull

a Neosov book and couple of the Neosov mutants and goopthrower mutants, plus and odd or end muti

and whatever else I can find to throw in. Getting it to someone who actually wants it wouldn't really hurt my feelings.

PM me if your interested in a sell or trade deal. ( nice price G.I. A numbah 1 deal!)

This game was a dog from the get go for V2. The issue came up with promises that didn't produce. I played it a couple of times when it first came out with the basic set and was quite happy with it, till FASA took a dump.

Was really hopeing that the game would have gotten a bit more love then it did.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

It had great background and story to the universe, and things were very "correct" from a sci-fi standpoint, IMO. I agree it didn't get the love it deserved.

Can someone describe / give a quick summary of the rules of VOR?

Instead of "phases" like 40k or flames of war, Vor uses "Activations" of the selected unit. Players alternate these activations of units, and in an "activation" units can move, shoot, engage in CC or what-have-you. The amount of stuff a model can do in an activation is limited by MP (movement points), with each action that unit can do having an appropriate cost in MP. For example, a Union Soldier unit (MP 10) can move 4 inches and fire their Pitbull Rifles (MPC 3, 2 uses per turn) twice, for a total cost of 10 MP.

A unit may only be activated once per turn.

It is True line of sight, and you get bonuses to your armor for being behind cover. The type of cover determines the bonus. There are no "saves" in vor, there is an Armor Penetration stat for weapons and a Armor stat on the model.

BTW: everything in vor is rolled on a D10 system, rather than a D6 system like 40k. I very much enjoyed this as it was a bit more complex and made for better modifiers.

That is all I can recall at the moment, as I have not played an actual game of it in several years.

Everything FoxPhoenix135 said:

Also, as it is relevant to make comparisons to 40k; Unlike 40k that uses a Force Organization chart the different factions of VOR use unit requirements to purchase other units. Kinda like prerequisites. In general you must purchase X number of grunt like units before you can purchase more elite like units(unless you play the Shard which work in reverse).

VOR also lets you use ANY models you wish. And there are basic rules for converting armies from other games but Skuzzy is writing rules to more extensively cover army conversions so that your Space Marines can fight against the Growlers. <--Would love to see that. My money is on Razorfang.

No way... the matchup I want to see is a Carnifex vs. Razorfang. That would be like nerd UFC pay-per-view!

Ok how about this one: Neo-Sov officer Vs. Imperial Commissar? Basically the same thing, so that would be an interesting matchup.

My money would be on the Commissar, because of the Bolt Pistol.

I've really started getting back into vor again. I'm trying to develop some fan-created content to expand the Vor universe, since it is pretty apparent that Skuzzy isn't going to.

RIP Vor. I have to vent a bit here.

Skuzzy (Vor's original creator) made some noise a while back about reviving it, but nothing has come out of it. His latest excuse was something about Canadian citizenship issues preventing him from travelling to promote the game in the US at GenCon or something like that.

I can understand those issues in general life issue terms, but this is the information age, and there is the internet. So, it's a pretty lame excuse if he wants to do something with the project. Simply releasing a paid, imprinted PDF of game rules, and also the force builder rules he keeps harping on, would probably net him a nice influx of money to help overcome some difficulties of starting up again.

Heck, I can't even tell him this because for some reason, he's randomly chosen to not authorize my account on his forum. If you're trying to promote a dead game, and don't have time to work on it, why choose to authorize every forum account?

Thankfully Vor has been dead to me for a while, so it's not a big loss. But, this small hint of a revival brought back enough fond memories that the realization that someone like Skuzzy couldn't get the game back up and running in even the barest form, at least, not until someone points out the obvious to him.

I agree. He hasn't even been on his forums since Feb. of this year. I feel pretty abandoned as well.
