I apologize if this has already been discussed, but I searched and didn't see it anywhere.

I found it odd that the Thousand Suns novel account of the Council of Nikaea seems to be different than the 'general fluff' that's already out there. Most of the Horus Heresy books follow the fluff pretty accurately, but add extra details or new twists.

The general accounts seem to be best summed up here: http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Nikaea.

But the novel has the Emperor completely banning all psychic activity within the Legions, to include dismantling of the Librarious.

Did I miss something?

The emperor did also say that it was not entirely his choice and he was pressured into it, which I presume gave enough leeway for librarians to remain to a minor degree, or at least come back gradually after the heresy.

I brought that up in another thread and was, basically, shouted down that the change had "already" been made in some other HH-related fluff.

Personally, it bugs me... With that change, why are there any Librarians in any of the SM Chapters in 40k? No one's explained that one to me yet. It makes no sense. One of many things about A Thousand Sons that I didn't like.

It's indeed strange. Perhaps Rowboat decided it was safer to let them use their powers rather than leave them dormant when he made the Codex Astartes?

The Rune Priest proves how ignorant they are as well. He believed his powers sprouted from the dead souls of Fenris, not to warp... Boy was he proved wrong.

"From the fires of Betrayal unto the blood of revenge we bring the name of Lorgar, the Bearer of the Word, the favored Son of Chaos, all praise be given to him. From those that would not heed we offer praise to those who do, that they might turn their gaze our way and gift us with the Boon of Pain, to turn the Galaxy red with the blood, and feed the hunger of the Gods."

After the Emprah makes a public decree at Nikaea outlawing Astartes psykers, Rowboat is REALLY going to "decide it was safer"?!?!? Just can't see it. This is the Imperium where a throw-away comment bt The Emperor about Land Raiders being best suited for Astartes being taken to mean that no-one else gets to play with them? I just don't buy it.

My biggest question is why change the existing fluff in a way that makes LESS sense with no real pay-off. At least so far. Perhaps them crafty HH authors have a bigger bombshell waiting for us on this, but I don't see it yet.

It could also be as simple as being lost in translation... Or they could have developed a Librairus AFTER Guilliman was put in stasis. This makes sense actually since Librarians all have blue armor...
