Hi guys.

Played a game the day before yesterday against SOBs, and most of my casulties were due to one thing, and one thing only..

Now, my mate has borrowed my rulebook, and I can't find it in any search, so.

my main reason of losses? getting burned to ashes by flame templates from sisters, or blasted by inq stormtrooper GLs.

Why is this a problem you ask? well, since I have no real option (as an ork) or tackling the heavier vehicles than running up and punting 'em 'till they go boom,
whether I kill the offending vehicle (in which cases they go boom and decimate my troop a bit, which i'm fine with), or not, all my models have to get into base to base (or base to hull) with the vehicle if possible during the assault, I'm nicely bunched up when the template weapons start dropping on the enemy player turn.

I haven't found anything about consolidating after CC with a vehicle, am I missing something, or is this "working as intended"???
It's getting quite annoying as I face template and mech heavy lists mostly these days (Mech IG, and Mech SOB).

This is covered very clearly in the Rulebook. I suggest locating it and checking out the "Vehicles & Assaults" section, specificially page 63, top right corner where it deals with the aftermath of Vehicle Assaults.

The only way to avoid that problem is to multi-charge an infantry unit at the same time.

You can mitigate it somewhat by keeping most of your mob out of charge range.
