Heya!

I've got a college tournament competition coming up soon and i'm still unsure which army to take to the games.

My two armies that i have are my 600 point Necron army consisting of:

A necron lord with Ressurection orb and phylactery
10 necron warriors
10 necron warriors
7 scarab swarms

And my Tau team consisted of:

Battle suit Commander Shas'el
Stealth team 2 + leader
10 fire warriors
10 fire warriors
Devilfish troop carrier
Kroot carnivor squad 10 + shaper
Piranha

I've played as both for matches but for the competition i have no idea which army would fare better agaisnt others as i've only played agaisnt Space Marines and Chaos. I love playing both but find that my tau are too squishy when the Marines get in quickly, and as for my Necron, with the orb and phylactery there damn near impossible to take out but i'm afraid the of the phase out for them.

Any tips of improving both armies are also welcome

the Necrons give you very few kill points to give up, and the swarm should be decent counter to enemy non-meq assault squads. I wouldn't worry about phase out- it's always a risk, but if you lose more than half of your list in points, you might well be close to the end anyway.

Tau will require a lot more delicate maneuvering as they are want to do.

I vote necron.

I suppose Necrons, I despise them for the same reason they are good in low points battles, THE DONT DIE! (unless the other player has lots of power weapons....BUT STILL!)
Tau saddly are very picky in low points, just not enough guns

I would also go with the Necrons, but I would take Gaze of Flame instead of the Phylactery.

I would say the Necron list is looking nastier than the Tau list. I would agree that Tau tend to be bad in lower points.
