Subject: New TV: LED, LCD, or Plasma?

Plasma--evidently the new ones last as long as a LCD model and burn about the same amount of electricity.
LCD--fine, but the screen is prone to scratches.
LED--new, uses very little electricity
So if you were going to buy a 37-42" television, which of the above would you recommend?

I'm probably not gonna be 100% right with all of this but basically what I've read is if you want 50" or over, go plasma. Anything smaller go LCD or LED. LED & LCD are mostly the same, LED is just the newer updated version of LCD as far as TVs go. They're brighter and have a more plasma-like picture meaning bright crisp & clear, but overall plasma has a better picture and is generally cheaper at larger sizes.
But really you just have to buy what looks best to you. Go to best buy and look at all the tvs and find one that looks the best. Then go home and order that tv off amazon for $500 cheaper than best buy's price.
I got a 50" samsung plasma about a year ago and it's awesome. My girlfriend has a 60" LG plasma and that's great too.

I agree with Necros. AND the best way to see how clean the picture is, ask the best buy person to play some sports videos. I used to install cable, and that was how I would show off the customers new pricey tvs with the HD programming. Nothing looks as good as sports in high def trust me. Then do the amazon thing

LED is a type of backlighting for LCD panels. It is not a different technology and unless your going cheap you're getting it anyway. Television quality varies by television as much as it does technology. Go to a store and talk to someone working there, look it up on wiki, and don't trust people on model game forums. Use Cnet or something instead. I sold these for a length of time, there's a lot of crap information and most people are ill informed, including people that will think they can give advice.

Is a Projector on the table? If so then a HD DLP projector is what I would buy.
There is nothing better than having a huge movie screen (136") when you want it, and having nothing there when you don't need it. (this selling point will make the wife happy)

How about having a screen that works during the day and that you didn't pay 3 grand for? Thats better.
