I know, I know, Thousand Sons suck. But I really dig the fluff and I wanted to see if I could make it passable for friendly games. TS squads hop in their Rhinos and zip up the field, killing everything in their way. Bolt of Change gives them a legitimate shot at popping transports and even an off chance at heavy armor. Daemon Prince goes with them, being generally awesome. Obliterators work their way up slowly, also killing anything in their way thanks to S&P, or Deep Strike depending on the game.

Well it's not particularly competitive, I appreciate that's not your goal, you just want to have fun an adhere to the fluff - if I were you, I'd drop the Lord.
He's expensive and doesn't really fit the Tzeentch theme if you're equipping him with double Lightning Claws. With the points from him, and the wasted 22pts, you could get:
Daemon Prince
-Wings
-MoT
-Doombolt
-Wind of Chaos
OR
Chaos Sorcerer
-Disc
-MoT
-Doombolt
-Wind of Chaos
Either of which would fit better, but I suppose the DP would be more competitive.

I agree w/ Tantras. I would definately drop the Lord for a Sorcerer with the same equipment options Tantras suggested. I don't know about the disc, though. Is the ten points worth the extra attack the disc provides vs a pair of wings? Also - do you plan on running your HQ solo? If not, then I'd drop the wings (jump infantry option) altogether. Unfortunately that option still leaves you with an expensive HQ choice (170 pts), which makes me wonder whether you should just take a cheap psyker ability like Doombolt and keep the sorcerer's cost low (110 w/ doombolt only.) For a 1000 point game, you're already showing up to the table practically empty-handed. That extra 60 points plus dropping possession from a rhino will give you another obliterator or even a couple of chaos spawn to run distraction.
I can tell you from personal experience that a Sorcerer is no joke in CC - obviously not as good as a DP or Lord, but still awesome. That force weapon has murdered many an opponent and the idea of a 4+ inv save is nice!
Good luck!

Yeah, DP is probably the way to go, thanks for the advice. Updated the list.

Just because you can get and shoot two weapons...doesn't mean you must for the DP.
Thousand Sons Squad 1 and 2: Bolt of Change is not good, at 1000 points, it's worse.
As for the rhino, no need for possession, wasted points.
Single oblits are horrid IMO, go bigger or go with armor...armor seems a better choice in this case.
Save some points by dropping doombolt and down grading BoC to doombolt and dropping possession...results in 90 points.
Hell, drop one squad of TS for CSM with IoCG and 2 meltas in a rhino if you want the AT power and an actual unit who will support everything there.
Saved points can go for... pred or dread or some other armor.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

Yeah, you're right, Posession is pointless on a Rhino. Dropping that, downgrading Bolt of Change to Doombolt, and Dropping Doombolt from the DP gives me enough points to get a 3rd Obliterator. If I choose to Deep Strike them, they'll be a single unit, if not, they'll stay as separate units for more favorable S&P rolls, but stick close together to focus fire better.
EDIT: If I drop the wings from the DP, I can get Warptime. Problem is, then it's harder to get in range to use WoC and assault. Is it worth the tradeoff?

No no, keep the wings, IMO that is a mandatory purchase for the DP.
