Well the easiest would be to prime them black and then do some hard edging with a dark grey color. That would basically be it for the armor, and then whatever color you pick for the robes, Id personally get at least 3 shades lighter of the main robe colors. That way you can lay down the main color, and highlight from the darkest of the lighter shades all the way up to the lightest. ITll give the robes some good character

Gathering the Informations.

Whatever you do, don't take the "easy way" of just priming and then doing edging for the Black Templars.

Priming black? Good start! Now, what you do next is relatively simple:
Water down Chaos Black and apply it as a basecoat. It gives a much richer, and fuller texture to the black. Next is the most important part.

Take a pipette and an empty paint jar(you can find some from Testor's) and mix the following:
2 squeezes of Charadon Granite in the pipette.
3 squeezes of Chaos Black in the pipette.
1 squeeze of water or an acrylic paint thinner(Vallejo's works best for this).
Once you have that mix done, make sure it's running to the consistency of milk along the side of the paint jar when you're shaking it.
Now, apply that very thinly along the edges and the larger armor plates.

It adds more depth to the armor, and voila! You have a lustred black armor--but with a bit of dirt and grime built into it as is.
