Seeing as how I have a Crimson Fist themed paint scheme, I've decided to shift from a "darker ultramarines" style into a more fluffy, and what I feel is even more deadly themed list.

Squad members are noted by weapons, so Sternguard Squad I has 10 marines total (7 regular, 2 Plasma Cannons, and Sgt)

Pedro Kantor
Sternguard Squad I: Bolters (7), Plasma Cannons (2), Sgt w/ Power Fist & Combi-Melta in Razorback w/ Twin-Linked Lascannon - 375 pts
Sternguard Squad II: Bolters (7), Lascannons (2), Sgt w/ Power Fist & Combi-Melta in Razorback w/ Twin-Linked Lascannon - 385 pts
Sternguard Squad III: Bolters (6), Heavy Bolters (2), Sgt w/ Power Fist & Combi-Melta in Razorback w/ Twin-Linked Heavy Bolter, Pintle-Mounted Storm Bolter - 315 pts
Scout Squad I: Sniper Rifles (4), Missile Launcher (1) - 85 pts
Scout Squad II: Sniper Rifles (5) - 75 pts
Attack Bike Squad: Multi-Meltas (2) - 100 pts
Land Speeder Squadron: Typhoon Missile Launcher & Heavy Bolter (2) - 180 pts (This squad has two identical Speeders)
Land Speeder Squadron: Multi-Melta & Heavy Flamer - 70 pts
Vindicator w/ Dozer Blade - 120 pts
Vindicator w/ Dozer Blade - 120 pts

Total: 2000 pts

The plan is to have the Sternguard Squads combat into a heavy weapons section and a close combat section. The CC marines will then hop in the Razorbacks and provide me with some fast moving, scoring, counter assault goodness. If I'm facing a pure CC army I can always just deploy them in a firing line and use the Razorbacks as mobile cover and solid gunships. The Scout squads are there because I need two troops choices, and they're going to sit back with the heavy weapons Sternguard and shoot. The Missile Launcher was included because I had 20 extra points to spend and I have the model.

My fast attack section featuring 3 Speeders and 2 Attack Bikes features a good mix of AT (3 Multi-Meltas & 4 Krak Missiles per turn) as well anti-infantry (4 Frag Missiles, Heavy Flamer, 2 Heavy Bolters). The Vindicators are there because this army is fairly heavy on AT and I'll need some horde control. 240 points that can devastate any horde army in a couple turns.

Just a couple notes, I took the Heavy Flamer on the Land Speeder because I had 10 extra points I couldn't find anything else better to do with. This is also somewhat limited by my model collection, but I wouldn't mind being advised of some future additions. I wanted to take lots of combi-weapons, but I simply don't have the guns to play WYSIWYG and I know I'll never be able to remember who has what combi-weapon.

Are you waiting for attrition to mount these guys or just buying the tank as a IFV? You do not have the required models to Combat Squad.

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.

Hmmm I missed that. I edited my own personal list, adding a marine to that squad and dropping some superflous kit on the vehicles/scouts.

Thank you.

5 sternguard with PF =/= counter assault...Not a big fan of swapping a boltgun for a HB. If you want to field Sternguards in that way then take Lascannons or Plasma (as in the two other squads) , dont waste special ammo on HBs.

As Kel pointed out, you need a 10th Sternguard in your third unit.

Alson, no Combi meltas exept for the one on the already expensive Sergant?

A pretty nice list imho, though you could use some more combi weapons. Fortunately they are not very hard to convert. Both melta and flamer nozzles can be made from greenstuff, even by very unskilled greenstuffers (that would be me I'm talking about), and the rest is just adding another layer of gun on the top of the bolter. And I agree with the critique on the heavy bolters. They don't add anything significant to the squad. A single heavy flamer for the mobile part of the unit would be much better for controlling hordes.

Heavy bolters are a waste on Sternguard the spec ammo will do more for you. Using them as half devastator squads can work a sthey are actually cheaper than half a devastator squad and have spec ammo 2A better LD through the squad and are scoring .

A combat squad with Pedro can be pretty nasty 4 attacks on the charge each (plus a bolt pistol shot). Heavy flamers work wonders for such a squad!

You need more combis all round and a 10th member of the heavy bolter squad.

Scout snipers are poor and don't really add anything you have enough for a scoring firebase as is so I don't really see what they'll do for you.

Other than that a very solid list just needing a few more tweeks to become an awesome list.

FlingitNow: I think the scouts are there simply because he needs to take two troop choices according to the FOC.

Fair enough, why not take assault scouts (probably shotguns) and out flank for late game objective grabbing or contesting rather than the snipers that will sit back in an area you are already well covered for with the Sternguard devastator combatr squads?

True, with Pedro they can cause some damage. But you loose their shooting ability when they are in CC so I would still try to keep them out of CC but I guess the PF can be a nice addition if you have the spare pts, but it does cost as much as 5 combimelta/plasmas so...

I would consider mounting your Scouts in speeders with a PF and combatblades.

Not keen on swapping heavy weapons in the sternguard. Sure it's cheaper than devs, but you lose that special ammo.

You should beef up the scouts. They probably won't last long, but I guess they serve there purpose as fulfilling the FOC.

I would drop that assault bike squad as it isn't a lot and go for another flamer melta speeder. You've typhoon's for anti infantry but only one melta one speeding around; so it needs a friend.
