Any veteran may replace his lasgun with a shotgun for free. Does this include the loader of a veteran weapons team?

There is no longer a loader per se. It is just one model now. However, that model does not replace its lasgun when you upgrade them to carry a heavy weapon so you can replace its lasgun with a shotgun

-Any terrain containing Sly Marbo is dangerous terrain.
-Sly Marbo once played an objective mission just to see what it was like to not meet every victory condition on his own.
-Sly Marbo bought a third edition rulebook just to play meat grinder as the attacker.
-Marbo doesn't need an Eldar farseer as an ally; his enemies are already doomed
-Sly Marbo was originally armed with a power weapon, but he dropped it while assaulting a space marine command squad just so his enemies could feel pain
-Sly Marbo still attacks the front armor value in assault, for pity's sake.

No, as the "loader" is no longer a Veteran, it is a "Veteran Weapons Team".

Yeah you could be a RAW freak, or you could just follow common sense.

No, a Veteran Weapons Team is equipped with a Lasgun and a Heavy Weapon of the Players Choice from a select list of heavy weapons available for certain points values.

There's no loader - just a "veteran weapons team" armed with a lasgun and a heavy weapon.

You can't do the ork trick either - even if you give the vets shotguns first, two of them are replaced with a weapons team with fixed equipment.

So, strictly, no - the second guy on the weapon team cannot have a shotgun. Would anyone care outside of tournament play? I'd doubt it.

Valk - do you play 40K or do you play your own special game of common-sense-hammer?

Riveting discussion. Unfortunately you can't do it legally.
For uniformity I'd rather ask my opponent's permission or TO to run all shotguns even on the team member but play the team member guy's gun 'as a lasgun'

I love shotguns.

People (myself included a while back) don't seem to understand that models of more than one "entity" are still one model. Best to just think of them as a single guy with multiple arms and heads.

Well as you can only fire the lasgun or the heavy weapon from that model i dont think it matters to much. as it is not 2 models like the last edition its one model with 2 wounds and no special rule about firing 2 weapons at once does it matter?

Unless, of course, you're one of those people that likes to impose what is common-sense and obvious to you on everyone else.
