Unless you give us any specific techniques or styles that you need help with, you're better off having a dig through the P&M Tutorials forum or having a look at the articles on Coolminiornot.

I vaguely recall writing a basic guide myself a while ago, but i can't be bothered to search for it atm

Yeah, details on what you would like.

if you give things like

"how do I paint faces?" or "what is good for armour"
then we can help.

It's mostly practice - I've been doing it for over 25 years and I'm still learning.

If you can get to a store and actually watch someone painting & interupt occaisionally with questions would also be very useful.

Check out my gallery here
Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

Miniwargaming.com just put out a DVD on basic painting that seems geared towards new painters, not so much getting Golden Demon quality but at least tabletop. The promo video itself looked pretty good. I may buy the DVD myself!

Try to learn paint consistancy and brush control first. if you can get a good constistancy and have a steady hand you will be able to learn most of the basic techniques without much difficulty.
