Alright I just bought the SW codex yesterday and there are a couple of things I am having difficulty interpreting and I was hoping you all could help me out.
1.) Mark of the Wolfen - so it replaces your base attacks but not your bonuses for charging. It confers the rending rule and you use this prior to your regular attacks. So to me if your a blood claw and your base attacks are 2 then instead of 2 you have D6+1 and then after that you make your 2 attacks and what ever modifiers your model has (plus 2 for charging).
2.) GW has been doing this with other codex's also, but they say blood claws have a base 1 attack and in war-gear it says they are carrying a chain-sword and pistol. Shouldn't they have base 2. Same problems I noticed with Banshees and berzerkers.

1) No. You get d6+1 rending close-combat attacks, and that's it. You don't get your base 2 after that. If you were a blood claw and had mark of the wulfen (which, I think only the jump pack troops can do that), you would have d6+3 attacks on the charge.
2) No. There is some wargear that can take away the bonus for having two close combat weapons. In addition, if a model replaces his close combat weapon with a power fist, he stays at 1 attack (because power fists don't get the extra ccw bonus unless you are wielding two of them). Having 2 attacks and 1 ccw is better than having 1 attack and 2 ccw's.

Bonus attacks for extra close combat weapons are never included in the unit profile, and MOTW replaces the "A" characteristic with "D6+1"
so when you charge with a unit of Blood Claws they get
1(base)+1(extra close combat weapon)+2(Berserk Charge) for a total of 4 attacks each.
Blood Claws cannot take Mark of the Wulfen, but a Grey Hunter who takes it would have D6+1 attacks, +1 more from charging, for a toal of D6+2 attacks. Please note that you cannot claim an extra close combat weapon bonus with MOTW, nor can you use any special close combat weapons like powerfist, frostblades, etc. All of the models close combat attacks are rending. If you have for example, a grey hunter with MOTW attatched to Ragnar Blackmane he would have D3+D6+1 attacks on the charge.

THE HORUS HERESY: Emprah: Hours, go reconquer the galaxy so there can be a new golden age. Horus: But I should be Emprah, bawwwwww! Emprah: Magnus, stop it with the sorcery. Magnus: But I know what's best, bawwwwww! Emprah: Horus, tell Russ to bring Magnus to me because I said so. Horus: Emprah wants you to kill Magnus because he said so. Russ: Fine. Emprah's always right. Plus Ole Red has already been denounced as a traitor and I never liked him anyway. Russ: You're about to die, cyclops! Magnus: O noes! Tzeentch, I choose you! Bawwwww! Russ: Ah well. Now to go kill Horus. Russ: Rowboat, how have you not been doing anything? Guilliman: . . . I've been writing a book. Russ: Sigh. Let's go. Guilliman: And I fought the Word Bearers! Horus: Oh shi--Spess Puppies a'comin? Abbadon: And the Ultramarines, sir. Horus: Who? Anyway, this looks bad. *enter Sanguinis* What are you doing here? Come to join me? Sanguinius: *throws self on Horus's power claws* Alas, I am undone! When you play Castlevania, remember me! *enter Emprah* Emprah: Horus! So my favorite son killed my favorite daughter! Horus: What about the Lion? Emprah: Never liked her. Horus: No one does. Jonson: I did nothing! Guilliman: I did more nothing that you! Jonson: Nuh-uh. I was the most worthless! Guilliman: Have you read my book? Dorn: No one likes that book. Khan: C'mon guys. 1) As above - you ONLY make one set of attacks, D6+1(+1 for charging) and that is it - nothing more.
2) As stated above, this isnt a problem - they DONT have a base 2 attacks, they get a *bonus* attack for fulfillnig certain requirements. Remove that requirement and they lose the attack, which if it was included ni the base stat they wouldnt.

Skyclaws with MOTW have d6+3 attacks on the charge (unless you play RAW and don't let berserk charge affect skyclaws and swiftclaws).
|
In one game turn an Imperial guardsman can move 6", kill a few guys with his flamer, assault 6", kill two more guys with his bayonet, flee 12", regroup when assaulted, react 6", kill one more guy with his bayonet and then flee another 12".
So in one game turn an Imperial guardsman can move 42" and kill more than 5 people. At the same time a Chimera at top speed on a road can move 18"... |

I typically give whatever model is carrying one of the unique weapons mark of the wolfen. So my grey hunter who has the melta gun has mark of the wolfen as well. This allows me to maximize my attacks giving the rest of the squad all there normal attacks.

You know that a model with a Meltagun also has a Bolt Pistol and CCW. They get their normal attacks anyway

Thanks everyone for clearing this up for me.
one more question...do you all think it would be wise to give Mark of the wulfen to a grey hunter with a power weapon or power fist.

No, because a model with The MotW never uses Special CCW, making it a complete waste of time to buy them a special CCW.

No. You would keep Rending but would not use the Special CCWs ability.

Hey I have another question...I heard that if a space wolve takes a special weapon he still has a CC weapon and pistol is that true?

Why not, say, get the codex and see for yourself? Asking questions is one thing, but this is outright asking for rules, which both Dakka and GW do not like. GW have been known to send Pandas armed with Multilazors that backflip off Land Raiders that Transform into Razorbacks into your bedroom if you do that.

First off I asked a question pertaining to difficulties with my interpretation then I asked a question about tactical advise at no point did I say, "tell me what mark of the wulfen is" "tell me if it affects power weapons" . If I didn't have the codex then I would have no knowledge of these rules existence. I don't live near a GW I play with a friend and I am sorry that I can't stop and ask a store rep for rule assistance, instead I have to get on these forums and hope that NICE poeple will help me interpret. I have the codex and have read it...I thought that any marine that replaces his CC weapon and pistol with a two handed weapon looses his +1 bonus CC weapon and pistol. Show me where it says this otherwise.

Read the rule where it says what you replace for the Meltagun, then see what that model is now armed with.

Yes this is true, if you check the codex you'll see he swaps his bolt gun for the special weapon.
For grey hunters at least.
To clarify : a small question like this is quite fine and doesn't merit some hideously OTT NERDRAGE response.
