Subject: Super-fast Varnish question- solid stream, or mist?

Hi guys,
I just bought some winsor & newton craft varnish to spray two very expensive models with. I tried it on a test piece, and it sprays out in a solid stream, almost like a hose. Is this how the varnish most people use works? Or am I right, in that for something like this I want a varnish that sprays as a mist?
Thanks and forgive my ignorance,
RiTides

what about emptying the varnish in to a cleaning spray bottle ie the dettol anti-bacterial saves you wasting what you already bought

i've only used testor's varnish and it comes out as a mist, much like aerosol hairspray. i'd be somewhat afraid to use a spray varnish like the one you've described.

Thanks guys- I just went and got a different brand. I'm assuming the one I had was different, since it can be used for crafts. I'll let you know how it turns out.
Edit: I just put on two coats of Grumbacher matte spray, and it looks great. Whew!

I use Testors Dull Cote and have had really good luck with it. I used to use GW Matte Sealer but they changed it to Purity Seal and I have had junk luck with it. The Dull Cote knocks ALL of the shine off of a model and leaves it flat. I haven't had any fogging problems and really like it.

Luck has nothing to do with it.
There are good reason why a GW forum such a dakka still recommend Tamiya / Testor coat /cote over GW junk.
